Amount of required server free disk space?

When I go to install Zen Cart I get a red X next to Server Free Disk Space, which says there is 0.44 Gb. Apparently that is not enough. But I can't find anywhere in the documentation or on the support board indicating how much is required. Does anyone know?

The red X will appear if there is less than 1 GB of free space on the server.
This is intended to warn you that you're in a potentially limited situation.

Zen Cart will operate quite happily with

15 MB of disk space for PHP files
PLUS however much space your product images consume
PLUS however much data you enter into your online store's database.
(The database starts at about 500 to 1000 MB depending on whether you install the demo products.)

So, the 400 MB you're reporting ... is a bit limiting if it includes database disk space. If database space is calculated separately, you should have no problem.
Zen Cart cannot determine whether database space is included in the reported "disk space" results. It simply raises the flag if there's a potential risk of surprises in this area.

I just checked at my site - the database is reported at 3.1 MB. Very few products, but it makes me wonder about your figure of 500 - 1000

Go into phpMyAdmin and see what's using up all that space. Also, how large are your images?

I think me meant 500Kb up to 1 MB

the database is not a 1/10 of a GB

Still confused...

Should this be 40MB ?

My server space is 50 MB and I'm using about half of it...

the main sql for a base zen cart 1.3.7 is 423K
the demo is 214 k

so the most to start will be 647 K
