Re: How do I set up a file for downloads

What is the backend you're using? Cpanel? Plesk?

Usually there's a folder at the same level as your public_html folder there should be a folder called public_ftp.

Can you confirm that? Do you know how to confirm that?

Are you trying to make a Product that is free and has a download?

Re: How do I set up a file for downloads

yes...the product is free and they can download it. Its is software that is free licensed and they can download it to use on their computer to help them buy from my site.

I have placed the file in my downloads folder on my server. Zen cart says it finds it, but how do i get the customer to download it.

I ran a test and added it to my cart. It goes through the normal check out procedures but thats it.

Thanks in advance

Re: How do I set up a file for downloads

In the Attributes Controller ...

You have made an attribute that has the download added to it correct?

You see the green dot next to the attribute for the download, correct?

When you add the Product to the shopping cart, you see the attribute in the shopping cart ... correct?

Re: How do I set up a file for downloads

Yes I believe I have set all the attributes correctly.
Yes I do see the green dot next to the attribute.
Not sure what to look for in the control panel for the correct attribute.
--I can add it to cart and everything...but thats where it stops. I can check out but I don't get a download messege or anything like that. But then again, I don't know what to look for. I am not sure how Zen Cart handles or displays downloads.

again, thanks in advance

Re: How do I set up a file for downloads

hhmm...no...its a file i have on cd that i uploaded the file to my server. The file is one of those files that launches and instales the software,

It is called AutoQuoter. It allows my customers to list the products and accessories they need for me to build them their product then it gives them an estimated quote for the finished product.

here is my site: http://www.motorcitywebsolutions.com/zen-cart-v1.3.7-full-fileset-12302006/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=32

and where i placed the download.

I would like it where they don't have to place it in the cart to download it, if thats possible. just click on a link and it begins downloading. But if I have to do the cart thing, thats fine too.

thanks

Re: How do I set up a file for downloads

I do not see any attributes on this Product ...

What is the Option Name and its Option Type?

What is the Option Value?

On the Attributes Controller you see the download on the attribute and the filename is spelled correctly and loaded to the directory:
/download
