Zone shipping character limit

Regarding configuring the Zones Shipping Module, the ZenCart main FAQ state that "there is a limit of 255 characters on each of the Zone Shipping Tables and Zone Countries. This can be changed in the database to suit your needs." Does anybody know HOW to change it in the database? What file to edit? I need to be able to accommodate approx. 280 characters. Please help... thanks!

Add another zone if you need to...

INCLUDES/MODULES/SHIPPING/ZONES.PHP

Find the line that says:-

  // CUSTOMIZE THIS SETTING FOR THE NUMBER OF ZONES NEEDED
  $this->num_zones = 3;

And where you see the "3", change it to the number of zones required.

... then, for example, make the shipping charges for zone 2 and zone 3 IDENTICAL. Put half the iso codes into zone 2 and the other half in zone 3.

What version of Zen Cart are you running?

If you edit Zones and copy your current settings to NotePad to save them ... and uninstall and reinstall the Shipping Module do you now have a large textarea to enter the Zones in?

Are you trying to define all of the "rest" of the countries not previously defined?

In the current version of Zen Cart, you can use 00 as the Zone to reflect all of the remaining zones not previously defined ...

Thank you Linda, I have version 1.3.7. Actually my problem is not with defining the countries, it's with defining the shipping costs, i.e. the weight categories. The 255 character limit only allows me to define weight increments up to about 30kg, but I need to be able to go higher. Sorry I wasn't clear about that! Any help will be much appreciated.

Your idea is excellent for accommodating more countries and I will definitely remember it if ever I need to do that.... but if I use this method for the weight, then I'll have a second category where the lowest weight conflicts with all the settings in the first category, wouldn't I? Arrgh.

Save your settings that you have in Zone Rates shipping module to NotePad for each one you have set so far ...

Next, REMOVE the Zone Rates module ...

Then, INSTALL the Zone Rates module ...

Now go to CONFIGURE it ...

You should not have this limitation on the Zones or the Rates ...

Had me wondering for a bit there ... knew that we fixed that puppy ... :cool:

I have another problem. I setup a zone for Ukraine - no problem. But I whant to intriduce two services of shipment - Air and Sea. So in zone 1 I created sea rates for UA (Ukraine) and in zone 2 Air rates for UA again. It does not work. At the point of checkout where customer picking the shipping method only the zone 1 calculation displayed. Apperantly I cannot use same country code (UA) in diffrent zones. The solution may be in the duplication of zone.php module and just renaming it. Any suggestion?

Cloning shipping modules is one method ...

Or, you might look into Multiple Zones Multiple Tables by dreamscape ... I believe that works with Zen Cart v1.3.7 ...

The crucial part is really to Remove the module and Install it again. I had been scratching my head because I did edit the number of zones in the zones.php file, but to no avail!
Now it works fine!

You are most welcome ... thanks for the update that you were able to get your additional zones to show by simply uninstalling and reinstalling the Zone Rate zone module after making the change to the number of zones that you needed ...
