Prevent category image from showing up?

I have a category with several subcategories.

Say the main category is WIDGET, and the subcategories are RED, GREEN, BLUE and ORANGE.

When viewing the 'Widget' category, I only want to see images of the subcategories.

However, if I disable the main category image, it won't show up in those situations that need it.

'Kasco Floating Fountains' is an image marked up as HTML in the category description.

You'll notice that 'Your Picture Here,' the official category image, still displays.

I'd like to turn off the main category image while leaving the subcategory images turned on. Is this possible?

Peek at the Product Listing configuration settings in Configuration ... Product Listing ...

Hi, I've been trying everything listed on this forum to remove the subcategory image and nothing works, the category image always shows up. I'm talking about when you are on your home page, then click on a category, that's where the catregory image keeps popping up, even if I put in a different subcategory image in admin, or even if don't add any image at all for the subcat., the category image shows up anyway!

anybody have any ideas why?

Hi, I think I've been asking the wrong question!

The image I don't want showing is the subcategory image that shows up in the left sidebox.

Here's and example of what's happening:
When I set up a category called a; and under that set up 2 subcategories called b and c, I only put in a category image, not subcatefory images. However, the category image shows up as the subcategory image in the sidebox.

Click on the pic of the purse (category "a")
You'll see the 2 subcat's. (b & c) showing the purse pic again, which I did not put in when I set up the subcat's.

Any ideas how to get rid of them? i even tried putting in a tiny 1 pixel white dot for subcat. images, and the purse still showed up.

I am confused ...

I see a Categories sidebox with a couple images in it ...

I click on the Category:
Concealment Packs & Purses

I get a Product Listing ...

Where are these images?

I'm having the same issue. I've discovered that broken image icons show up for me beside subcategories inside the category sidebox in IE, but not Firefox.

The image name is cat_pointer_right.gif

I'm currently researching how to get rid of them all together, I'll post again once I've figured it out :)

OK, you should be able to find the solution inside:

includes\templates\YOUR_TEMPLATE\sideboxes\tpl_categories.php**

There are plenty of comments inside that file to help you out. Look around line 158.
