Where do all the uploaded product previews go?

I would like to update a number of previews. And rather than using the Admin interface, I thought I could just rewrite the jpegs all at once via ftp. What folder/directory do they go to?

"previews" ???

I think you mean "images" ?

They are in the /images folder on your webserver. Simply upload replacement images via FTP, using the same filenames as you used initially.
