I import database but still no details show

I've followed the forum instructions but when I log in to my upgrade test admin it still doesn't show my original database.

This is what I've done so far:

Right, so far I've uploaded the latest version of zencart into a new folder. I created a new database just for it. I ran the install. I inputted the details for the new database.

I then went to phpmysql or whatever its called and imported the database from my live shop to the new database.

Then following instructions from the forum, I went to the install again and clicked on the upgrade database. It did that but still my customer details, products etc do not show when I log into the admin.

The only thing I have managed to do in my 6 attempts at this is to alter the configure files so that they point to the original database.

I would rather have a complete copy of my live shop database to "play" with if you get me until I've completed the upgrade.

Hope that makes sense. Have been doing this for 3 1/2 hours and my brain is now muddled!

Thanks!

Re: I import database but still no details show

Forgot to say that when I do the import it does import stuff over. Tables and things. It just doesn't import customer details and products etc.

This may seem like a silly question, but did you export the database from the live shop using SQL as the option, save it to your local computer and then import it to the new database from there?

Re: I import database but still no details show

Yes thats what I did. (and no, that isn't a silly question when it's a beginner you are replying to! )

I have a clearer mind this morning so this is exactly what I did.

1. Uploaded new_shop.
2. Went to phpmysql and exported liveshop database
3. Ran zc_install
4. Went to phpmysql and imported liveshop database to new_shop
5. Ran zc_install database upgrade.

This is the message that I got after that:

ATTENTION: Problems Found

  • NOTE: Skipped upgrade statements: 7
See details at bottom of page for your inspection.
(Details also logged in the "upgrade_exceptions" table.)
Note: In most cases, these failed statements can be ignored,
as they are indications that certain settings may have already been set on your site.
If all the suggested upgrade steps have been completed (no recommendations left),
you may proceed to Skip Upgrades and continue configuring your site. At the bottom of the zc_install page it says the following:

SKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "USE_SPLIT_LOGIN_MODE" because it already existsSKIPPED: Cannot ADD column customers_paypal_payerid because it already exists.SKIPPED: Cannot ADD column customers_paypal_ec because it already exists.SKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "CC_ENABLED_SOLO" because it already existsSKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "CC_ENABLED_SWITCH" because it already existsSKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "CC_ENABLED_MAESTRO" because it already existsSKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "DEFINE_PAGE_NOT_FOUND_STATUS" because it already existsSKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "DEFINE_PAGE_NOT_FOUND_STATUS" because it already existsSKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "DEFINE_PAGE_NOT_FOUND_STATUS" because it already existsSKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "DEFINE_PAGE_NOT_FOUND_STATUS" because it already exists

I then went to my admin page but there was no sign of my old customer details, products etc.

Any ideas? (I don't mind how "silly" they are to you because chances are its something silly that I've done or not done!)

Please keep it in laymans terms though!

Re: I import database but still no details show

  1. When installing new store, make sure you have it working
with it's own database, BEFORE importing database for your current store/live store.
  2. Ensure you have correct template version for zencart 1.37
    installed in new store..

Did you make sure store paths in both config files are correct?

Re: I import database but still no details show

Have you checked that any database prefixes are correct? I have spent many a harmless hour wondering the same thing because the new install had a 'zen_' prefix defined on install, and the old did not. i.e. do your new install and original table names in the database actually match one another, and are they correctly reflected in your configure.php files?

Re: I import database but still no details show

I think you may have something there!

I started again. I deleted my new database and created another new one to start afresh

Right, I did the install. This time when it asked for database details I put zen_ in the prefix box

When I went to phpmysql the new database had all the tables in it with that prefix this time.

I then did the import. I got an error message saying that the address book already existed.

Did upgrade.

Still nothing in admin. I'm doing something wrong!

could it be anything do with the original export? What should be ticke under "structure" and "data".

And did you remember to reflect this change in both configure files?

Re: I import database but still no details show

Okay well I now have those details in my new shop admin!!!!

I have to log in with the username of my original shop rather than the new one I created. I've put a new category in as a test and it doesn't show up in the liveshop admin so presumably I've managed to copy the two databases!

Thank you for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For other peoples reference. What I was doing wrong was when I was exporting I hadn't ticked under structure "add drop table" and "add if not exists". Didn't have to touch config files.

(Thank you sooooo much for your patience!)

Re: I import database but still no details show

You are Zenned!

I should have realized the ID/password thing. :frusty: I should have remembered that from when I imported the database to the test cart.

I'm glad you got it sorted and are well on your way.

Re: I import database but still no details show

Ok, I am having a similar problem. Bilt my site (v1.3.7) on my laptop, using WAMP. Exported the database to a file on my laptop. On live server, installed zencart v1.3.7 using Fantastico script. It built a database called "database_zc1". Did the zc_install, uploaded my css changes, then imported the original database. On live server, everything is "working" and there, EXCEPT all my admin changes. Upon examining database_zc1 thru phpAdmin, I noticed that there were 186 tables instead of the original 93, and that every table was duplicated by a table with the zen_ prefix. It appears all my data is in the non-prefixed tables, but the cart is reading the zen_ prefixed tables. How can I correct this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you alter both config files to reflect change in database prefix?

Yes, I did change both configs. I since have deleted the Fantastico created db, created a fresh empty db and imported the structure and data into it fine. Changed the config files to reflect the new database, but when I bring up my index page, it has an error message stating Zen Cart can not connect to the database. If I try to access the admin panel, I get the following:

0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
in:
[db_cache table]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

Help! Please!

Re: I import database but still no details show

Ok Problem resolved! Amazing how a tired frustrated mind in the middle of the night can miss the so obvious!!

But lesson learned that may be of help to other newbies. If you use Fantastico to install ZC, and then want to import data into the database and the original is not zen_ prefixed, you must delete the fantastico DB, create new one, (with full user name and password - where I made my error) import the structure and data into the new database, and then make the alterations to the database references, database user, and database password in both configure.php files, and also remove the zen_ prefix reference in both configure.php files.

Hopefully my hours of frustration will save another Zenner some time and frustration.
