Newly installed templates not showing in admin

I have downloaded a couple of new templates using the following directory structure:

includes/templates/NEW_TEMPLATE
includes/languages/NEW_TEMPLATE
includes/languages/english/NEW_TEMPLATE
includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/NEW_TEMPLATE
includes/languages/english/html_includes/NEW_TEMPLATE
includes/languages/english/modules/order_total/NEW_TEMPLATE
includes/languages/english/modules/payment/NEW_TEMPLATE
includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/NEW_TEMPLATE
includes/modules/NEW_TEMPLATE

In each case I copied the files from the associated classic directory into the NEW_TEMPLATE directory except where there were files from the download already in the directory. Most of the time this was simply copying a empty file from the classic directory.

I am not seeing these new templates in the Admin under tools/template selection. Only the Classic Contemporary Green is showing.

I have spent hours researching this and have come to this point where I am now asking for assistance. I need some help to get past this point.

Thanking you in advance for your help.

 I am working too hard. I am making this harder than it is.

Found the problem. Fixed the problem. All is right with the world.

How about posting what you found out? You're not the first person to make the mistake and you won't be the last. Someone else might just be having the same problem.

Re: Newly installed templates not showing in admin

The problem was all me. I wasn't thinking and I am totally embarrased.

I had been making changes to the files on my local drive and using the Alt-Tab feature to toggle between my HTML editor and my live site. I would do a refresh and not see any changes after I had just made them.

I simply forgot to ftp up my changes.

I had everything right. I had done as instructed. I simply was not uploading the changes.

So people can learn from my mistake...

Step 1 - Make the change on the local machine and save the change.
Step 2 - Upload the changed file via ftp.
Step 3 - Refresh your browser to see the change.

Skipping any 1 of these 3 steps will result in nothing being changed on your site.

Re: Newly installed templates not showing in admin

I've done that! I've made changes, refreshed the page and wondered why nothing was different... and then realized I hadn't bothered to upload the changes. Talk about getting ahead of yourself!
