Inventory question - how to track components of assembled products

Anyone have any ideas on tracking the stock of individual pieces of one assembled product? For instance, Product A consists of Components 1, 2 and 3, while Product B consists of Components 1, 3 and 4. How do I keep track of the components' inventory (which aren't for sale) instead of the actual products? Thanks.
