  1. Ensure you've installed the latest PayPal patch for v1.3.7:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56216

  2. Turn on debug logging:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61199

  3. Do a test transaction and post a copy of the various debug logs generated.

For some reason your connection to PayPal's server is failing.
Either CURL is not working or CURL is not allowed to talk externally on port 80.

Re: Pay Pal Error!! (CURL is slow, causing error)

Ask your host whether there are any prohibitions in place which would prevent you from talking to paypal on port 80 via CURL.

Re: Pay Pal Error!! (CURL is slow, causing error)

jon27240:

[CURL_ERRORS] => (18) transfer closed with -1 bytes remaining to read

This suggests that your webserver CURL engine is disconnecting before data can be received.
I don't know the exact causes of this - it largely depends on your webserver setup.
Perhaps report the CURL error to your host and ask for them to determine whether CURL is truly functioning properly or not.

On most hosts it just works as-is. If your host has some unique firewall configuration or other technical setup, you may have problems. You'll need to get them to help figure it out.

Error #18 corresponds to: > CURLE_PARTIAL_FILE (18):

A file transfer was shorter or larger than expected. This happens when the server first reports an expected transfer size, and then delivers data that doesn't match the previously given size.

Googling the CURL error brings this post, which suggests the server has a problem:
http://curl.haxx.se/mail/archive-2002-01/0152.html

Another one suggests that perhaps there's a very slow communication link between your server and the PayPal one:
http://osdir.com/ml/leaf.devel/2005-06/msg00014.html

Thanks for looking.

The Paypal IPN worked perfectly, but not the Express.

Thanks anyway.

Re: Pay Pal Error!! (CURL is slow, causing error)

I'm having the same error, and I'm totally pulling my hair out over it!
I've contacted my host (Dreamhost) to see if the Curl port is cool....:shocking: :censored: :frusty:
Other than that, please, for the love of all that is Holy, someone help me out here..

If you want to see this in action, go to MIsight.com and try using the PayPal Express...

Paypal has blamed ZenCart....Which I fail to believe!

THANKS AHEAD OF TIME!
