No Footer When Define Page Is Set
When I set my "Define Page Status" to "1" the only page that shows up is that page. I don't see any other modules or footer.

Could you be a touch more specific? There are a dozen or more Define Page Status settings ...
Have you an URL where this problem is occuring?

when define text is on, the footer and other links do not appear.
when define text is off, the links and footer appear.

As you are using the tm001 template where "tm"=template monster...try doing a search on this forum for "template monster" to see all the issues that there are with this outfit and their templates...while they might be attractive - they really write outside of the builtin functions to some extent and this can be a little to alot
Switch to the classic template and see if the footer issue is still acting this way - if not then this is a template issue and trying to mess with the Zen Cart settings/code will most probably not correct it. One must look to the code alterations that are contained in the tm001 files

I'm ok with deleting some of the tm001 files and letting the template default take over. the first file I have deleted is tpl_index_default.php from the tm001 folder. Can you tell me what other files from this template might be conflicting with the main page? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I hope that you have copies!!! I would not delete them...
If you are intent on making their template work - on your local make a folder structure that can contain all of their files and for the the comparable Zen Cart files.
Then using a difference tool like winmerge or windif you can find the differences
