What software is best for figuring out how zen cart works.

I'm trying to train myself on php. Using zen cart as an expample I am tying all sorts of differant software packages.

What I want is a program I can use to follow the path of how zen cart opens pages, and maybe even create a flow chart of zen cart.

I'm also tryig to figure out the functions. How they are written and why they are written that way.

Does this make sense to anyone? Am I overthinking this?

I dont know about a program

I use textpad.com to write and edit
and the php bible to learn

I'll take a look at the php bible. I'm using the PHP & MySQL development book.
