Show newest items first

When I go to the All Product listing, one can chose how you want the list, either by name, model, prize, new to old and so on. But when I chose one manufacturer I only get the product listed by the product name.
I would love to have it show the newest products first automatically. How do I do this?

The Product Listing is sorted by default based on your setting in the Configuration ... Product Listing ...

To change this for the manufacturer's selection to have its own sort order you would need to alter the choice made ...

I still don't get it - there must be some settings that overrides the ones I make.

The Product Listing is run when you:

1 navigate Categories

2 navigate from Manufactuer's sidebox

3 navigate from Search

4 navigate from Advanced Search

The criteria of the display is defined in the Configuration ... Product Listing ...

If you want something different to happen, when you get to the Product Listing from the Manufacturer's sidebox ... you would have to customize the code to recognize that this is how you got to the Product Listing and manage the default sort order differently than what you have set in the Configuration ... Product Listing ... if these do not match ...
