Templates whenever you change status of order?

Hi there,

I process many orders daily and every time down the bottom I change order status from Processing to Update I usually type the same message:

Hi [customer name],

Thanks for your order, will ship ASAP and get back with a tracking number

regards,
apemusic

Similarly when I change status from Update to Shipped I usually type the same thing:

Hi [customer name],

Your order has been shipped - see tracking number

regards,
apemusic

Is there a way that when I select "Update" or "Shipped" the above text AUTOMATICALLY appears in the box and I don't have to cut and paste or type the same thing EVERY single order?? It would really help when I have lots of orders and am in a rush

Also, if the message could grab the customers first name and customize like I said above "Hi [customer name]" so it would say "Hi John" etc. that would be great!

There is a very old, not-up-to-date contribution called PDF Order Center which did this sort of thing, amongst others. You might try adapting it for your use, if your coding skills are up to it.

I really do want to have these repetitive tasks done automatically because it is a lot of work to PDF and email and invoice and to cut and paste the same messages to customers over and over again
