My Catagory image thumbnails and layout settings

I would like the category thumbnails on the main page to be bigger.
I would also like them to be arranged 2 per row.

Try this for your 2nd question:

admin>configuration>layout settings>categories-always display on mainpage set to 1

Admin>configuration>maximum values>categories to list per row set to 2

You will then have to play in the index.css stylesheet to get them to postion were you want as they will display side by side and take up 100% of the width available (50% each)
