shared handling fee for particular items

I have vendors drop-ship for me, and I have some items shipped from a fulfillment center, but I'll get along okay just using table weight-based rates. I have to overcharge shipping to be safe, but it's not a big deal since many item prices are $100-$1000 anyway.

Except for one issue. There is a $15 handling fee that one drop-shipping vendor charges me per order. So for that vendor's items, I need to add a one-time $15 fee per order. Is there any way to group these items so that the one-time $15 fee is applied as either shipping or handling if any of the appropriate items are in the order? Maybe with an attribute or something?

I'm new to Zencart but have been looking at it for several hours trying to figure this out.

Thanks!

Surely there are tons of other people with this same issue?

Just customize the Shipping module(s) you use to do a look up on the products in the order to see if there are any products by this manufactuer ... if so, then add an extra charge either by product_quantity * handling or just the handling or handling per item depending on how you need it ...

Got your coder cap on? :smartalec:

I'm a doctor, not a coder!

Wait, I'm not a doctor. And I'm a coder. DAMN!

Well I guess I'll give it a shot, given as it sounds like a pretty simple routine. What could be simpler? I'll be right back!
