Display Shipping Cost On The First Checkout Page

Hello

I would like to be able to display shipping cost to first checkout page directly after adding the product to basket.

I, personally, like to know shipping costs before I purchase anything. It would be clearer if noted on the first checkout page, as aposed to only seeing it when you sign up or log on, or click the Shipping Estimator button.

Anyone know how this might be achieved?

I would also like to know how to hide the Weight: 0lbs display on the first checkout page. Any ideas?

In Admin, look under Configuration > Shipping/Packaging.

The last one is Shipping Estimator Display. You can set it to show on the cart page, not a pop-up shipping estimator.

There is also an option to not display weight there.

not really what i was expecting though

i would just like the shipping price to display and that's it, don't require any of the other stuff, is just confusing...

also, there is no option to not display weight

the thing is that most shipping is based not only on weight but **** to address,
this kinda kills the ability to display a shipping cost

yeah, shipping is a bit complex sometimes, some products need flast rate, some don't, and some products can be shipped to certain places, etc. would be good if you could set shipping per product...

while that might work for a smal percent of stores its not practical to the majority,

do you charge the same to ship 2 countys over as you do to ship internationally?

both the sites that i have used zen cart only really sell to uk or europe, so, i have set up a 2 rates, one for mainland europe, and one for uk, shipping is based on where you come from

if from europe you obviously choose a european country in your address, the system picks up on this and charges accordingly

the other shop is based on table rate, per item and only set up for uk
not sure how i am going to set up a country variable to this one!?

sorting out a suitable shipping set up is always a bit of a headache

If you were logged in to say what Zone you are in or what your address is ... then the Shipping Estimator is pre-populated with your address to give you the quote ...

If you are not logged in, then there is no Shipping Address defined ... so it asks you ...

Once set, as of about v1.3.7 ... it is smart enough to remember your choice the first time it is used ... during the session or until you login ... :smile:
