choice of free shipping or overnight/express

Hi guys!
One of my clients offers free shipping to the US on orders of over $100. However, they would like to also offer the option of shipping faster if the customer wants to. They use UPS exclusively for shipping. I tried to set up the freeoptions shipping, but it would never kick in (it has a little yellow button next to it). I finally set up the ot_shipping under order totals. The problem is that when a customer orders over $100 the free shipping shows up, but with no options to ship with a faster method. I have the UPS domestic and international all set up and it works fine when worldwide orders come in or when the order is below $100.
What should I do brave zen-trekkers???
Much love!
Beo

Re: choice of free shipping or overnight/express

You can set this up with Free Shipping Options for the US only ...

You need to create a zone for "what" is the US Only by your definition ...

1 US Lower 48 and DC

2 US 50 states and DC

3 US 50 states and DC and Armed Forces

4 US 50 states and DC and Armed Forces and all Territories and Islands ...

There are several ways to define this as you can see from above ...

Once defined, set the Free Shipping Options freeoptions to use Total >= 100.00 and all the other settings to blank ... not 0 but blank ...

Now this will only show on Total >= 100.00 plus the other shipping options will show and it will only show for your defined US Zone ...

Make sure under Modules > Order Total, that under Shipping, the "Allow Free Shipping" is set to false (under ot_shipping like you have set). That works differently than the options under Modules > Shipping, and it will take away the other shipping options if set to free, and those conditions are met.

Re: choice of free shipping or overnight/express

Gosh, you guys are great! One more question...do I set up the new zone in "zones" or "Zone Definitions"? I haven't added zones before now. I added "United States" in zone definitions when I was trying to get this to work, but it still wouldn't make the freeoptions active.

Or do I need to set up "zone rates" under shipping. Sorry to be a pain.

Thanks y'all!!!

You first define your zone name then add the details on what is in the zone ...

Ajeh,
I still can't get freeoptions to turn on. If I give you the info, will you take a look?
Thanks!

Re: choice of free shipping or overnight/express

Well, I have tried everything and the only way to get the freeoptions to turn on is to do the "Shipping Zone - None", otherwise it won't turn on. I created a zone definition with US only and chose "all zones" (within the US) and it just won't work. My client does a lot of international shipping so I have to figure out how to use freeoptions for the domestic customers over $100.00.

If anyone out there has any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks!

Okay, it seems to be working correctly, but the button to the right of the freeoptions is still yellow. Why wouldn't it be green?

I also deleted all my zone definitions and recreated from scratch.

STRESS!!!!

:lookaroun I think it's yellow there to point out that it is limited to a zone. It works just fine. When I set mine to a zone, it went orangish-yellow, too. I didn't see anything to explain it, but since it works right, I assume that's why it does it.
