Can't get attributes working ARRGG!

Ok, I'm really trying here .... I have spent hours on these forums and many many hours playing around and I just can't get it. :censored:

Can someone PLEASE give me step by step DETAILED instructions on how to make the following happen:

Product A

PA1 1 lb $25.00
PA2 2 lb $40.00
PA5 5 lb $100.00
PA10 10 lb $180.00

I need to know exactly what to put where on the option and attribute sections. Also, can someone please explain what the different boxes are under price and weight in the attributes section??

And some questions:

1. When I am at the product set up screen, do I enter anything for product price Net and Gross? So far if I do enter anything, it ADDS that price on to the price of whatever is placed in the cart. If I leave it blank, a price of $0.00 shows up on my products pages)

2. How do I give each attribute a part number (PA1, PA2)

Now I have 20 more products, all with the same options, but different prices depending on the product (see below) Do I have to create an option name and assign an attribute for every single option on every single product? because that's going to be around 210 options/attributes. There must be an easier way??

First, in Option Names Manager, make an option of say Size, and call it radiobutton or dropdown as you wish.
In Option Values Manager, select Size and make values of "1 lb", "2 lb", "5 lb" and "10 lb".

In Attributes Controller, select the product and then select the option name and an option value, and enter the price for it with a prefix of blank, not +. You can enter the weight, again without a + since it is the total for the product with this attribute.

You are correct that you give the base product a price of 0.

There is not an efficient way to give the attributes "part numbers" in the way you are asking; but what you show is not a unique part number for each attribute, just the product name/number with a weight suffix. That will come through very legibly in the order. This leads into...

Make one generic product with all the attributes set up. Then, if the products themselves are very similar, copy/duplicate the product 19 times and edit each of those with the name, description, prices etc.
If the products are too different for that to be efficient, make all 20 products, and then click on "Copy to Category" near the top of Attributes Controller for the first product, and copy the attributes to all the rest.
You will need to edit the prices for each one, but it's still a lot easier than entering from scratch.

Thank you very much, I've tried what you've suggested, and it's almost worked.

I now have a product that has several different weight/price attributes which add to the cart just fine. BUT - on the top of the content section, to the right of the image, it now says: "Starting At: " but there's no price in there. Where do I go to put a price in there? Or how do I get rid of this all together?

There are a couple of other details to get products priced by attributes working just right.
In the Attributes Controller, see this list of options:

Used For
Display Purposes Only:

Apply Discounts Used
by Product Special/Sale:
No Yes

Include in Base Price
When Priced by Attributes
No Yes

You want to require the customer to have a choice made before adding to cart; this can be done either by setting the most common choice to Default, or by adding another option value titled "Select one" or something similar and making it Display Only and Default. This forces the customer to make an active choice.

To get the Starting at: price to show, set all attributes to be Included in Base Price. Then the lowest combination of those (if there is more than one choice to make) will display as the start price.

On the product page itself (the page where the product is set-up, outside attributes controller), have you checked the radio that says: Product Priced by Attributes ?:yes:
