Cart drops items for certain users, not all

My cart is dropping items for certain users, but not all of them. I have read other threads and my sessions are set up exactly as suggested and have never been changed.

My session setting are:
Cookie Domain: True
Force cookie Use: False
Check SSL Sessions ID False
Check User Agent Flase
Check IP Address False
Prevent Spider Sessions True
Recreate Session False
IP to Host Conversion Status True

What could be causing this?

Do the users that this happens to have anything in common - like AOL maybe?

No, it is completely random.

What is wrong with AOL users so I know for the future?

I wish it was that easy, we are getting too many visitors a day and very few orders. A few users have called to complain but other orders come right through.

Have you an URL to your site where we can go break things? err ... test this? :smile:

I cannot reproduce the error myself and I have had a few people this week report it to me.

Oh lookie ... there is an About Us or News or Gallery etc. I can look at ...

Oh is that the phone!?! I better take that call ...

You have pages that are not part of Zen Cart ... the customer can go off to never never land and the session times out so all content is lost ... if the customer was lucky and logged in, when they log back in the content can be recovered ... but most don't think to login in or register until after they decide it is checkout time ...

The problem actually occurs in one sitting and as they are shopping and adding items. They are all stating that when they add an item it stays in the cart until they start adding other items. Then it is taking some items out. I have over 800 visitors a day, but my sales have trickled to 5 on zen cart and most people are ordering over the phone because of this issue. I have not updated anything since going to 1.3.7 and that is when this started a few months ago.

Items are only removed from the cart if stock runs out while they are shopping ...

They should get a message if this happens ...

Have you noticed if the stock is dropping to <= 0 ...

No, stock levels are fine.

Why cant we do like some carts do, a customers cart stays with any items added until they either check out or remove them from their cart.
I've been to sites before, days latter, and find the items still in the cart. seems as if a lot of folks are having cart troubles, I think this option of the cart keeping any info would be good for all and good for sales.
Is their such a mod, setting, ect ??

Sure - you can force cookies - but that has it's drawbacks too - like you can't use shared SSL
