Shipping cost per item

Is it possible to determine shipping costs per item?
I have two types of products which have two different delivery rates.
These rates are fixed, how would I fix the delivery costs based on prodduct?

Re: Shipping cost per item

The Shipping Module Per Unit perweightunit is based on the products_weight for each product ...

Perhaps this can work for you?

Re: Shipping cost per item

Yes possibly, I could set the weight for type 1 products to say 5kg and for type 2 products to 2kg. Even though this is not the real weight it will provide two different shipping rates in theory.

Re: Shipping cost per item

I wanted to do this same thing.. however I have three different regions (US, Canada, International) as well as if an additional product is ordered s/h for that item is less.

My client would like this {below} , however i realize this might not be possible so can someone perhaps point me in a better direction on how to handle this??

U.S.
Product Type 1 - $9.99 / additional Product Type 1 order - $3.00
Product Type 2 - $11.99 / additional Product Type 2 order - $5.00

Canada
Product Type 1 - $18.99
Product Type 2 - $21.99

International
Product Type 1 - $28.00
Product Type 2 - $45.00

any suggestions is appreciated..
thanku

Re: Shipping cost per item

I've tried the Table Rate module (is this the same as the Weight Module?) - and have found that two different products, two different weights/shipping costs, will cancel each other out at checkout. The Table Rate becomes $0.00 and there's only one to choose from. Am I working in the wrong module? I can't find the Shipping Weight Module in the downloads section (new or old). Thanks.

Re: Shipping cost per item

I have the same or at least similar problem. We do print products. Each product ie job.. has to be shipped in a separate box. If someone orders quantity 2 then we need to have that go as two separate shipments. Someone please let me know if there is a solution.

Re: Shipping cost per item

Have you more details on how your shipping works?

A box per product ... is that also the same price per box on shipping or is it a separate box per product but then the quote is UPS or USPS etc.

If per item charges ... the Per Item item shipping module is charging $X.XX regardless of weight or destination ...

Re: Shipping cost per item

I have the same problem. Each product must be shipped in a separate box. To calculate shipping, a UPS quote needs to be received for each box and then the shipping costs of all of the boxes must be totaled to get the final shipping costs for the order.

Please let me know if there is a solution.

Re: Shipping cost per item

It could be written ... but it is much more complicated than many shipping modules ...

Depends on how badly you need it ...

Do you only have 2 types of products or do you have many types of products?

Re: Shipping cost per item

I am in somewhat the same predicament. You may remember my last post on another thread a week or so ago. just to quickly recap ... client wants shipping to be

$6.50 for all items except hidden cameras
hidden cameras should be $10 ea. add. $7 (for US orders)
hidden cameras should be $20 ea. add. $7 (for CA orders)
hidden cameras should be $30 ea. add. $7 (for International orders)

I thought that maybe trying to leave the weight on all items except the cameras at "0" and then on the hidden cameras I made the weight "1" I set up the Zone Rate Module like based on weight (for zone 1 was the US) 0:0.00, 1:3.50, 2:10.50, 3:17.50 with a handling fee of $6.50 (and then zone 2 would be for CA and Zone 3 is for international with all the 2 character codes listed and prices accordingly)

However when i do a test order and either try the "estimate shipping" or proceed to checkout I get this
"The shipping rate cannot be determined at this time" and lists $0.00 and that is when i try to test order a hidden camera (which is listed as 1 lb) when i test order one any of the other items (which are listed as 0 lbs) I get this
"Zone Rates (Shipping to US (1 x 3.00lb(s))) $24.00"

and it even says at the top "Total Items: 1 Weight: 0lbs"

I am at a complete loss. I've been trying different methods of the shipping and none are working the way i need them to for example I even tried the table rate using the same thought and the only thing it showed for the shipping was the "handling fee" and not the rest.

Thxs for any and all help

Re: Shipping cost per item

ok so i figured out most of my problem the Tare weight was set to add 3 lbs I guess some sleep helped...lol.. so i set the Tare weight to "0" and now it does it correctly the only problem i have left now is to figure out a way to make it do what the client wants the zone table rate is working if the customer orders anything other then a hidden camera the shipping is set for 6.50 and if they only order hidden cameras the price is correct for each zone however if they order one of each then it only charges for the hidden camera

but I can live with that ..lol..

Thxs again for the wonderful people who are so knowledgable and the book (had to look in there to find the tare settings..lol)
