How can I do this...

I have, on my website, a main category, (Tennessee Genealogy Books). Within the main category there are three subcategories, (Western Tennessee - Middle Tennessee - Eastern Tennessee), that each have aprox. 30 subcategories (Counties) in each one. Each one of those 30 subcategories have products for sale in them.

In the main category I would like to add a forth category, (called "All Tennessee Counties"), that would list all 90 subcategories, (Counties).

Is it possible to do this with Zen Cart?

Yes, it will be easy to do this - it will just take some time. Subcategories can be moved from one top cat to another easily, but cannot be copied with a single click.

You will need to create your new "All Counties" cat and then each county subcat under it.

Then you can go to each product one by one and copy/link them into the corresponding new county subcat.

I really appreciate your input but.. what you describe is what I am trying to avoid. With over six hundred products in 94 different categories that would be almost like building the whole store over again.

I was hoping for an eaiser way.

I know, I've wished for a "copy subcat" function myself...
Making the cats will require a lot of ticking boxes and copy/pasting text (I'd use two windows), but once you have that, linking the products is as fast as your server/browser can jump from one page to another. There's no comparison to even pasting in a new product; trust me, I've done plenty of linking :)

I almost forgot (since I only started using it recently) that the Multiple Categories Link Manager (available through the Attributes Controller - link near top of page) has a function to link all the products in a category to another category. Scroll all the way down to see it. That should speed things up - 94 operations is better than 600 operations.

I was looking for the copy of subs as well. I have tried to use the link multiple categories, but once they are linked I can't seem to change only the name of the linked products (it then also changes in the main category). Is there a solution for that?

No, I'm afraid not. Linking products does not create a new product. To do that you need to go to the Categories/Products page and copy/duplicate each product individually.
