MultiSite Module Support Thread

nakins:

I've been trying to get this thing going and I'm having problems. I uploaded a new install of zen cart, ran the ALTER TABLE query, then I added the NEW/ADD_FILES and then I uploaded the MODIFIED files. I thought that I could then test load the cart to see if it would load the index page, but I got the following error.

1054 Unknown column 'CATEGORIES_ROOT' in 'where clause'
in:
[select cd.categories_name from STORE_categories c, STORE_categories_description cd where c.parent_id = CATEGORIES_ROOT and c.categories_id = cd.categories_id and cd.language_id='1' and c.categories_status=1]

What did i do wrong? It would seem that I missed a database modification somewhere. But i didn't anything about this in the instructions. Help!

Ok, I created a site_config.php named www.my.com_config.php and put in the following:

<?php
	$template_dir = "template_default";
	define('www.my.com','template_default');
?>

I'm still getting the same error.

Btw, someone needs to rewrite these instructions. there are 2 step 4.'s and some more clarity would be nice.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

hello

thanks for this contribution. as far as I understand I must install an addon domain or parked domain to use this module. but I would like to use this module with seperate ssl certificates (that would mean I should add seperate ip addresses for each domain, if I'm not wrong). Is it possible. or have you got a solution for this situation?

In addition, I suppose this module should work with different servers via putting all files to each servers. but it's going to be hard to update files for per server.

Any comments about installing different ssl certificates for each domain are wellcome. (A possible solution might be using a root domain as secure server but it may seems unprofessional to customers)

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

nakins,

your code for "www.yoursite.com_congfig.php" should be

$template_dir = "your_site_template_directory";
define('SITE_NAME','Your Site Name');

i.e. mine is

$template_dir = "2fast_shoes";
define('SITE_NAME','Shoes');

I dont care what it says next to my name. I've been Zenned!

I had changed that to:

<?php define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/'); define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/'); $template_dir = "site1"; define('SITE_NAME','site1'); ?>

And used site2 for the second config file. I'm still getting the error

1054 Unknown column 'CATEGORIES_ROOT' in 'where clause'

[select cd.categories_name from STORE_categories c, STORE_categories_description cd where c.parent_id = CATEGORIES_ROOT and c.categories_id = cd.categories_id and cd.language_id='1' and c.categories_status=1]

Where and how is CATEGORIES_ROOT defined?

Thanks

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

add this to your www.yoursite.com_config.php

define('CATEGORIES_ROOT','1'); //root categories is 1 for this site

change "1" to whatever category number you need to show contents of in your category box. 0 will be all categories

hope that helps

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Ok, this is still not working.

I started over by deleting my cart dir and I did a drop tables. I uploaded zen cart into /cart. I ran the install and input all the info requested. I renamed the install dir and set the permissions in the configuration.php to 444. I checked
to see if it worked in the browser, and it did.

I uploaded all the ADD files and all the MODIFIED files. I ran the ALTER TABLES query. I added the INCLUDE ONCE line to that file. I created two template dirs in cart/includes/templates. These were 'main' and 'site2', along with 'classic' and 'template_default'. I changed the name in the template_info files to main and site2 respectively. I created two config_site files.

www.mysite.com_config.php

<?php
    define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/');
	define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');
	$template_dir = "main";
	define('SITE_NAME','main');
	define('CATEGORIES_ROOT','1'); //root categories is 1 for this site
?>

And another for mysite2.

I added main-site2 to the cats. I tried that and <?--main-site2-->. the last one never could be entered or show up correctly in on the admin page.

I'm still getting this error:

1054 Unknown column 'CATEGORIES_ROOT' in 'where clause'
in:
[select cd.categories_name from STORE_categories c, STORE_categories_description cd where c.parent_id = CATEGORIES_ROOT and c.categories_id = cd.categories_id and cd.language_id='1' and c.categories_status=1]

This isn't fun:no:

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

try putting 0 instead of 1 for

define('CATEGORIES_ROOT','1'); //root categories is 1 for this site.

I'm lost if that doesn't work i'll try and make some better instructions for you

Nope, this didn't work either. Could this be a php4/5 issue?

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Is there a way to stop customers logging into either site with the same login?
We have one site for agents and the second site for retailers.
Retailers should be able to log into only the retailer site. Agents login to agents site or both, it doesnt matter. The agents site shouws all products while the retailer site only shows some. is there a way to do this with multisite?
i see Jvoce trying to do something similar around post 202 but it's not quite the same. Both sites need login to view products.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Are there any issue of incompatibility with other modules?

I have a customer with 3 sites, with same items (all the inventory is the same) and they will love to have this so they don't have the hassle each time they have to update the inventory, since they have to add it to the 3 sites manually. They have a dedicated server but 3 domains and 3 different templates. How can I install this, integrate all 3 databases without loosing orders, customers, etc?

Also I have another customer that wants 2 stores but they are going to be in same domain. Can I use this module with subdomains based stores?

Your support is appreciated.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Hi All,

Ive got this module installed and working beautifully! Makes life soooo much easier to keep everything under 1 admin screen.

Ive managed to set it up for different domain names, but im a bit confused about how to set this modul up for different directories.
I want to have a different style on https://www.funkyfancydress.com/fancy-dress-shop but i cant save this name for the _config.php file.

How do i get around this?

Cheers

Paul

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

The more I read the more confused I become, though this is probably true of my life in general at may age.

Any way, I am still unsure of what to do regarding the dual SSL problem. I will have 2 sites, one strictly for wholesellers who must login with an assigned name/password and the other open for public retail. Because my client does not want to step on the toes of his wholesellers, the two sites must appear independent even though the stores will be exactly the same except for the name, look and pricing. No store exists at this point so it will be a clean install.

Each store must have its own domain and SSL, thus its own dedicated IP (I am using cPanel).

So, I have 2 questions:

  1. If I understand correctly, the ZC installation will only be done on one of the domains (cPanel accts) and it doesn't matter which one?
  2. EXACTLY how do I get the domain without the installation to use the ZC from the other domain and still reflect its own SSL?

I'm sure I'm overlooking the obvious but it just isn't clicking for me so anyone who can shed some light on this would be LARGELY appreciated. Am I just overthinking it?

Thanks!

Gary

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

I am looking to find someone who I could pay to set this module up on our current site. Anyone interested?

We are already running Zen at www.actionforms.ca/officesupplies

A lot of the files have been modified and the instructions don't cover what to do about that. And to be honest I don't have the time to figure it out.

If you are interested, please PM me.

Thanks

Thanks, Colleen

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Does this mod allow each store to have different configurations. For example different product pricing and being able to use discount coupons on one store but not one the other.

I want to have two stores, one retail and the other wholesale set up like this:
mystorename.com
mystorename.com/wholesale

Would this mod work for my purposes?

Thanks.
