MultiSite Module Support Thread

pfabrick:

Tools->Layout Boxes Controller you should have a button appear that you need to select to resets the layout boxes for that first time. Then you can control the box selection for THAT template. It should state "Column Boxes YOUR TEMPLATE" at the top of the page.

no it just added a new sidebox called "site_links.php"

I think I will just use another database and use easy populate to update the items.

would have been okay i think if i had a fresh install

Last question; will adding "ALTER TABLE orders ADD order_site varchar(30) NOT NULL DEFAULT 'no';" to my database in my original site do anything if I dont update any files in that site?

I understand...that's what we did before we found this great mod. It's such a pain to have more than one system to maintain, update, log into, etc. that we were happy to integrate our system. This mod is now the one we can't live without!

Sorry, but I'll have to defer you other question...I'm just not sure. Do you have a test site set up? I can't say enough about setting up a mirror (same version of ZC, same mods, templates, categories etc...you only need a sample of your products though) of your system and testing ANYTHING there before doing stuff to the live store. It's worth every byte of drive space!!

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Also, will this mod work for multiple sites in folders? For example, could I run https://www.mysite.com/site1 and https://www.mysite.com/site2 with this mod? Or does each site need to have it's own unique URL?

Thanks!

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

OK i was reading through some of the first pages. and also read the multisite installation instructions. But Im not sure on how to do this. Do i have to install both stores first than add the mods? and when I install the stores do i install on the same database? Im not sure on how to do the first steps.

from what I have seen www.mysite.com/site1 and www.mysite.com/site2 should work fine, zen cart see's them as unique URL's. Only problem could be if this mod only works in a root directory, but this is unlikly.

No, it's only ONE install and ONE database. You make the modifications to that one install. During the mod installation, you'll set up a config file for each store that you want to set up. You'll also set up which stores will "see" which categories. Then just point all your stores to this ONE installation. The mod does the rest...determining which store your buyer is coming from and "feeding" them the correct template, categories, etc. Try reading the instructions with this in mind and see if it makes more sense now.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

here is a link to one store.

http://www.oxicore.com/

and heres the second store.

http://www.oxicore.co.nz/

I am using 2 different templates. They are very similar. But I have one problem. Its not loading the correct template when going to the separate site.

the one for oxicore.com it has the footer and its linking to the correct pages staying in the same web site.

the other one for the oxicore.co.nz it has the same footer but its not loading the correct footer.php. when you click the link its actually going to the oxicore.com site.

Is there something im doing wrong? I have separated the different templates and they are using it. But my custom links are not picking up. I also edit the footer and the index page for each template to point to a certain link. but its only loading from what ever is selected from the admin template selections.

In the admin page i have to switch the templates to have it work one way or the other. but i want to have it work both.

Try checking your config files for each store and make sure that you've got the correct template assigned to each store. Since they're so similiar, it would be easy to have the same one assigned to both stores.

Yea they are 2 separate one. and what do u mean by config files? I copy the template and changed one of the files to make it change but my custom links are not being picked up from the tpl files. hard to explain.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

one template is called trueblue and the other is trueblue2.

ok i edit the footer for trueblue to have custom link.

all links should have the prefix https://www.oxicore.com

and trueblue2 the prefix for the custom link is https://www.oxicore.co.nz

then I uploaded the footer of trueblue to trueblue common folder
and uploaded footer of trueblue2 to trueblue2 common folder

But it doesnt work correctly

if i go to the https://www.oxicore.com it shows https://www.oxicore.com but when i go to https://www.oxicore.co.nz it shows the footer links as https://www.oxicore.com

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

I couldnt edit my post.

But i forgot to put in

in template selection if i pick trueblue it shows the link of https://www.oxicore.com if you use the https://www.oxicore.com to go to the page.
but if you use https://www.oxicore.co.nz it shows the link as https://www.oxicore.com.

and if i change the template selection to trueblue2 it goes the other way around.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

Well after a while i have figured it out. So if anyone wants to do something like that or is having the same problem here it is. I didnt realize how much more defines were in the site_switch.php.

what i did was add in
" define('DIR_WS_COMMON', DIR_WS_TEMPLATES . $template_dir . 'common/'); "

into the file any where is fine. and it worked. the custom links are working.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

I guess no one really come here to read.

I have a few problem with SSL for this now.

And I have to create a _config.php for every link.

oxicore.com_config.php and www.oxicore.com_config.php

is there a way where you only have to make one. Because if it doesnt have one or the other it says that the site does not exist.

Is there some changes that i have to do with the site switch.php file?

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

tanik, Wow you are basically talkin to yourself here.

In regards to your last post I actually just settled for 2.

what you can do is define the http and https servers in the config file as https://www.oxicore.com so even if visitors go oxicore.com all the links will point to https://www.oxicore.com and they will remain there.

it's the same as the defines in includes/configure.php

Try 2fastshoes.com for an example. let me know if I need to make it more clear

I dont care what it says next to my name. I've been Zenned!

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread

I am running the Blank Sidebox Module and I'm having a problem with the images in it. My site is http://shipping.actionforms.ca/ and if you go there right now you can see that the images I have in my blank sidebox are not showing.

It is looking for them at:
http://shipping.actionforms.ca/shipping/includes/templates/shipping_template/images/button_business.gif

However if I log in, it can find them at:
https://shipping.actionforms.ca/shipping/includes/templates/shipping_template/images/button_business.gif

Any idea's what I am doing wrong or how to handle this.

I have these images in my original site at www.actionforms.ca/officesupplies and I just pull these images from my regular site with no problems.

Thanks, Colleen
