Changin Page Layout, Renaming Manf To Brands

I have zen cart installed now I want to change the top of the page to one I designed. Here is my website address www.sullivanvitamins.com I want that banner at the top with the buttons I designed in photoshop that are image ready and same color scheme for the background.

After following one of the tutorials my page looks like this now. www.sullivanvitamins.com/zencart I actually liked the original look of the side boxes so I want to keep those except change the color to match my designed banner and change the box named manufacturers to brands for that drop down box.

So those four things I need to accomplish: Banner replacement, background color, returing side boxes, changing the color to match and changing name for side box from manufacturers to brands.

Well it's getting there. I want to thank ladysaat again for the tip on the web dev tool works like a charm to help me make out the mess that code is. I was able to change the side box colors and change the background to color I want. Now I need to figure out how to transfer my designed layout for the header to replace the powered by zen cart the art of ecommerce at the top.

If I change via ftp the folder I have named zencart to catalog, will that mess anything up?

Also I forgot to add how do I get rid of those repeating categories in the header and the ones in the middle of the page? I want to replace that area with four main pictures for my themes of the store. www.sullivanvitamins.com/zencart

Your /includes/configure.php and /admin/includes/configure.php files will have to be edited to change the paths for files and database connection.

Admin > Configuration > Layout Settings > Categories-Tabs menu.

Admin > Configuration > Layout Settings > Categories - Always Show on Main Page

For the "move the categories box up" and the "Welcome sentence", you need to use the Web Dev tools to find the classes/ids of the elements and change/add them in your stylesheet.

The Home and Login links are in the "navigation" section in tpl_header.php. They are not alone, though. The My Account and Shopping Cart/Checkout links will be there also, when appropriate. You can comment out the <li> which calls the Home link, and move the whole block of code between <!--bof xxxx--> and <!--eof xxxx--> comments to another location in tpl_header.php.

You can add HTML to the main page content in define_main_page.php, which you can edit in Tools > Define Pages Editor.

Still working on moving up the left column side box which has the manufacturer (renamed to Brands) drop down box to the same level as the right side column and changing the font size and color of the Welcome message. Finally got my logo/top banner up:clap:. I needed to renamed the file to logo and put in mytemplate folder. Right now it's aligned to the left, how do I center it?

Also I designed the buttons on the banner to change depending on what page you are on. My previous site I basically uploaded six different banners so the buttons would change depending on the page you are. How do I repeat that effect in www.sullivanvitamins.com/zencart

How do I make www.sullivanvitamins.com/zencart become my index/main page so when people type in www.sullivanvitamins.com they go directly to the store? Right now when you type in the main address it takes you to the previous version of the site which is this www.sullivanvitamins.com

**Finally got my logo centered by following the thread listed below. Now I need to figure out how to get my buttons on my top banner to be a yellow tab with green lettering depending on what page you are on while the other tabs are green with yellow lettering. I also wanted them to have that hoover effect changing to red when you place your mouse over it like the categories listed in my side box do.

Open up your stylesheet:
/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet.css

Find:

#logo, .centerBoxContents, .specialsListBoxContents, .categoryListBoxContents, .centerBoxContentsAlsoPurch, .attribImg {
float: left;
}

replace float: left; to text-align: center;

That's it!!!

I changed some of the text in header.php to have my store name and when I reloaded my footer is now above my header with lots of x out boxes. The title of the page (in the blue bar at the top of the window) use to be just Sullivan Vitamins - America's Favorite Vitamin Source now it has Welcome to added to it. The size of my font has been completely changed to a much larger size. Please help!

Still can't figure out what was changed to make the footer move all the way up and push the header down and enlarge the font size.

I guess I have to post in another thread.
