Help...trying to figure out attributes with combo download/shipping

I have posted this in a couple of places, and read the thread posted at:

I've not received any response and am in desperate need of help on this issue. I'm very confused about how to set this up, because I can't seem to get the shipping correct with the right attribute and the attribute page is just perplexing to me.

I have a product that is a download/virtual product that has a base price and is downloaded only, but we also have an option for a physical version of the product to be sent by mail, which has an additional charge, plus shipping. I set up an attribute, one for download product, and the other for the product to be mailed, which carries an additional charge. That part works. My problem is that I want the download product to have free shipping, but the shipped version of the product to show the shipping without showing the free shipping option. I either at this point, get no shipping if I select the product to be virtual, or I get all the shpping options for both attributes and I don't want the free shipping option to show up on the "by mail" attribute. I couldn't really follow what the person in the thread above was saying about setting the weights? I'm on a deadline with this, and would even pay for the additional help.

if you wish to see how configured, suggest installing brand NEW zencart,
for testing,
and on install, opt to have demo products installed..
The product quoted at above url will be included in those demo products..

Thank you for your response.

I don't have the space or resources to install another "Test" cart. Do you have something I can compare and see? Or could PM me something? Or could I have demo'ed products installed into the cart by going back to the installer? I would appreciate your help. It does look similar as to what I'm trying to accomplish. I can't figure out why the attributes weren't set up where they could be configured easily. The attributes page is EXTREMELY confusing. I still see the same problem and the shipping shows up on the downloads and the free shipping shows up on the ship by mail. Would be glad to pay for services at this point. I'm on a deadline and desperate to resolve this issue.
