Product types & Other terminologies

Folks, new to the world of Zen although done plenty of SQL in days gone by. Have taken on a bit of a task in setting up a new store...

I need to have product info (about 300 items worth) that covers std fields plus Length (A)numberWidth (B)numberHeight (C)numberC-Width (D)numberC-Height (E)numberLanyardnumberNotestextPDFfilename for PDF

I have seen posts on the product type "Music" - is this the course one should follow and if so how does one easily upload a spreadsheet's worth of data into such an entity?

Similarly can you please point me to references re adding these fields to store pages (whether list or detail pages).
