paypal IPN woes

When you loaded the clean install of v1.3.7 did you also load the current PayPal Patch?
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56216

Are you able to do a regular checkout with Check/Money order?

Re: paypal IPN woes

Hello, Ajeh:

Yes. I tested before and after current PayPal Patch was installed. The same in both cases.

Check/Money order works fine. Paypal Express works fine too. :-) Only Paypal IPN has problem.

Re: paypal IPN woes

lina,
wishy's problem is a very specialized issue.

Yours sounds more general, and the following very detailed FAQ document will show you a number of things to check:
http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/PayPal

You could start with enabling debug logging, and do a test transaction, and then post your logs for review:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61199

Then be sure to read the troubleshooting article and check things out ...

Re: paypal IPN woes

wishy,
Your database was missing the "auto-increment" attribute on the paypal_payment_status_history table. This is a very odd happening. I've not seen just "one" table suddenly lose its autoincrement setup. This sort of thing usually only happens on a mass table-export-then-import usually when moving from one host to another and changing MySQL versions in the process ... and even then it should affect all tables, not just one.
I've fixed the table, and am waiting on a test transaction to confirm success or not.

I built the original site on my local server then transferred it to the current server. So you're spot on. I followed some instructions for moving to a live server that I found in the faq and obviously something happened in the database dump and transfer. I've just had a successful transaction so things looks promising so far - fingers crossed.

Many thanks for all your help, Dr Byte. I appreciate it a great deal as well as all the advice I've received here in the forums - a real lifeline.

Re: paypal IPN woes

Hello, DrByte:

I am replying to the thread you posted yesterday to me.

I followed the detailed FAQ document and checked everything. Double check I have uoloaded the newest PayPal patch. Followed your another thread to open the paypal log.

The problem was still there. I noticed that after I finished the payment via Paypla IPN and was redirected to my website, there was no order number showing. And if there was no order number, then consequently new order would not show up in Admin, nor in "my account" either.

When I checked out using check/money order and Paypal Express, the order number showed and then new orders would show on Admin.

the attached is the zip of my paypal log. I tried 3 times with Paypal IPN, no order number; one time with Paypal Express, the order number is 12.

By the way, it was really painful to check out with Paypal Express. I prefer Paypay IPN pernonally.

Thank you very much for your help!

Lina

Re: paypal IPN woes

Lina,

It seems you have some custom code installed, which is not getting loaded when processing PayPal IPN transactions. Thus, your IPN activity is failing.

Fatal error: Call to a member function buildHrefLink() on a non-object in /home/.nonsense/smithville/thesbeauty.com/includes/functions/html_output.php on line 20

What addons/contributions have you installed?

Re: paypal IPN woes

HELP please!
After receiving a Paypal notification payment without any ORDER confirm email, I installed "Paypal Session Viewer" addon, and I found I HAD OTHER 2 STUCK ORDERS, both with Paypal payment selected, but for them I did not receive ANY KIND OF NOTIFICATION, nor from Zen-Cart or Paypal (no order confirm,no payment notification)
How could this happen?

I realized I had, skipping my test orders(it' a week my site is officially online), alternating good and stuck orders:
#9 ->OK
#10 Stuck without any payment and any kind of notification
#11 ->OK
#12 Stuck without any payment and any kind of notification
#13 Stuck order (no ORDER confirm email) but I got Paypal notification

I have 1.3.7. installed with the May 10 Paypal patch installed.
I had removed and installed Paypal IPN.
Now I have activated debug log file and I will make some test and I am going to install Paypal Session Viewer 2.0.

Do you know what can I check to see what happened to orders #10 and #11?
And I was wondering why they had created an account without making an order...they tried but they did not manage

Please help me

Re: paypal IPN woes

After you installed the latest PayPal Patch ...

Did you also follow the instructions to

1 Remove any PayPal Payment module ...

2 Install both PayPal Payment modules ...

3 Remove the PayPal module that you are not using ...

4 Reconfigure your settings on the PayPal Module that you are using ...

Re: paypal IPN woes

Yes Linda,
I did all those things except point 3.

3.Remove the PayPal module that you are not using
After reading some posts on this problem I have removed Paypal Express checkout (it was installed and disabled).
Making some tests I realized that if I or the client subscribe and enter Paypal page, at that point a stuck session is created.
So I need to understand if for some reason clients stopped going on or there was an error.
I sent to those clients a Discount Coupon inviting them to tell me if they encountered some difficulties during checkout.

However reading other threads it seems other people is having the same problems, but Paypal Session Viewer can help if a Paypal notification is received.

If my "potential" clients give me some advise I will let you know.

Re: paypal IPN woes

When you installed the may 10 patch, did you also configure PDT? This should help prevent stuck orders from happening.

Re: paypal IPN woes

Yes, I configured PDT after installing the patch.
No feedback from the clients I found in the stack orders, for some unknown reason they left the Paypal payment page without proceeding.
I have logs activated, 2 other payments went well in the meanwhile... what I did was to remove Paypal Express Checkout that I am not using.

Re: paypal IPN woes

I got an email about a payment from Paypal without any Order confirm email...so I thought of another Stuck order, and moved it from Stuck orders to Orders list.
Soon after , looking at the Log files I realized another log file arrived, from PDT that failed to insert order data because I moved from Stuck orders, so probably if I had waited I had had a good order.
PDT was 10min late this time.Looking at the previous logged payments, the 2 log files have the same date/time or a difference of 1 min.

So I realized that the FIRST log file, always reported a warning:

-- IPN WARNING :: Currency/Amount Mismatch.  Details:
PayPal email address = xxx@xxxx
 | mc_currency = EUR
 | submitted_currency = EUR
 | order_currency = 69
 | mc_gross = 69.00
 | converted_amount = 8.00
 | order_amount = 8
VERIFIED
0

And the orders were saved by PDT:

IPN INFO :: Currency/Amount Details:
PayPal email address = xxx@xxxx
 | mc_currency = EUR
 | submitted_currency = EUR
 | order_currency = EUR
 | mc_gross = 69.00
 | converted_amount = 69.00
 | order_amount = 69
Jun 03 2007 17:11 -- PDT NOTICE :: Order added: 26
PayPal status: Completed @ 08:10:47 Jun 03, 2007 PDT
 Trans ID:14302649LU228052B
 Amount: 69.00 EUR

Do you have any idea of the reason I get a Currency/Amount Mismatch in the IPN request?

thanks

PDT was 10min late this time.Looking at the previous logged payments, the 2 log files have the same date/time or a difference of 1 min.The only explanation for PDT being 10 min later is if the customer paid by CC and without a PP account, and was left on the "Click here to create account or here to return to merchant" screen ... and finally came back to your store after choosing one of those options.

m_and_s:

So I realized that the FIRST log file, always reported a warning:

| order_amount = 8

I can't see any reason in the code for that mismatch to happen. And, where does the "8" come from?
Most puzzling.

The following PDT log segment looks good. Strangely enough, both logs use the same piece of code.

Re: paypal IPN woes

I checked the other log files, and I found that in all of them, in the first log file for each paypal transaction:

  1. order_currency and mc_gross have the same value of order amount
  2. converted_amount = 8.00
    **order_amount = 8 , **always, for any kind of order amount:blink:

For those finding this thread with a search on IPN or stuck orders -
I had the above problem exactly. If your IPN log shows order_currency = 69 (or any number) instead of a currency code like order_currency = EUR or other currency code, it will show converted_amount = 8.00 and order_amount = 8 and no order will be recorded.

Don't know what causes it but I fixed it without upsetting any config by installing a new zencart to another directory then copying its /zencart/includes/modules/payment directory over the troublesome one. I'm using version 1.3.7.1.

Hope this helps others so they don't slave for days like I did!

Thanks Dr Byte for your troubleshooting tips in various threads that helped.

Forgot to say IPN/orders was setup and working ok in the new install before I copied the directory(s) over.

I'm having the exact same issue, I've tried copying over the latest payment modules to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

IPN WARNING :: Currency/Amount Mismatch. Details:
PayPal email address = [email protected] | mc_currency = USD | submitted_currency = USD | order_currency = 1 | mc_gross = 1.00 | converted_amount = 8.00 | order_amount = 8 VERIFIED 0

I've tried a few different things from other post's but the problem persists :(
Thanks
