where can i change the design for the center column?

i want to change all the template to using Divs and the design is done. Now the problem is i cant find the page to change it. i checked to

common/tpl_main_page.php but it doesn't show those center column ( Featured Products, new product and so on). the tpl_main_page shows only the sideboxes code and banners, which is good, but i want more.

i gonna make a template with 1 leftside with boxes, do i have to change the design in checkout page too?

cheers

Re: where can i change the design for the center column?

There is not one template file that controls the whole page. tpl_main_page.php controls the framework, and calls in tpl_header.php, column_left.php, one of several center column files depending on what is wanted, and so on.

To make a two column layout with left sideboxes, first turn off the right column in admin > Configuration > Layout Settings > Column Right Status - Global. That will affect all pages. It is possible to have one page like checkout different if you want it to be.

Re: where can i change the design for the center column?

so if i make a framework that show exactly on every page, like left columm contains categories, shopping cart, and so on, do check only 1 tpl_main_page.php or is there other files in other folder?

cheers

Re: where can i change the design for the center column?

Unless you are getting fancy with pages having very different layouts, you only need one tpl_main_page.php. After you have turned off Column Right Status in Layout Settings, go to Tools > Layout Boxes Controller and set the location and sort order of the boxes you want in the left column. This will give you the basic shape of the template. You can change some sizes and widths of elements in admin, but most of that will be in your stylesheet, as well as colors, fonts and images.

Before doing a lot of work on a template, read all you can about templates and overrides in Zen Cart. Start with the "Second step in setting up your cart - templates" thread in the First Steps & General Customization Issues forum.

not fancy, here is the test, http://www.lansemall.com/index.jpg .
i know i can switch off the right column, but hm...i tried to put a head before and it wasn't working with table. but maybe i tried it once again. basically i just want to remove the >table< to div.

i use my custom template folder, which i think it is a good when a system knows take custom template first and second default template

Re: where can i change the design for the center column?

Nice looking shop, and shouldn't be hard to get exactly that if you're good with CSS - or is that a screenshot of your actual cart already?

There is only one table used in the default Zen Cart installation, and it is there because it is very difficult to make the page work completely right without it. People have done it and said as much. Everything else uses divs, except for some things that really are tables.
Is this a purchased template that has tables? Many of them do use deeply nested tables that make customization difficult.
