Attribute Drop Downs and Color Selection

Hello..
I'm relatively new to Zen-Cart and although I've already figured out the theming and override stuff I'm having trouble adding options on product pages. I would like to have drop downs for sizes like what is on this page:
http://www.unbannable.com/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=1

and I would adore color selection like what's on this site:

http://www.butterwing.nl/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_84&products_id=245

The 2 are not compatible....for the swatch of color you need an image and set the option name to be radio buttons and at the bottom create the swatch - uploading the images

Thank you for your quick response. I much prefer the ability to use drop downs then, as I need to denote more than just colors... whats the right way to do this?

See above...quickest way to learn about attributes is to install
ANOTHER NEW zencart, and opt on install, to have demo products
inserted..you will then see how to configure what you require.
URL above shows demo product..then when new cart installed
look how that product is configured.. otherwise take Kobra's suggestion.
