Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

When using my test account to log in, I am now getting the dreaded "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to display the nonsecure items?" when returning to the main page. As far as I can see, I am using relative links - I have only added 2 links from the main page. Can anyone shed some light on what I have done wrong? The site is www.superphones.com. I've searched the forums, but other than the advice about using relative links, I'm clueless. I am running version 1.3.7.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

I'm still getting the error with IE7. I do not get the error with Firefox or Opera. I shut IE down, cleared the cache, and re-booted the machine, still have the problem. While I was at it, I found another problem. In Opera, the categories at the base of the header do not wrap. Instead, they project beyond the right border of the page. Overall, not a great day...

Re: Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

I'm running IE7 under XP. I didn't know that anybody could afford enough RAM to run Vista... In any event, I have some strange things going on with IE7 right now, so I guess that I'll ignore it for the time being. Now to figure out what's going on with Opera and the categories not wrapping... Thanks for the assistance.

Re: Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

If you employed any images using the HTMLarea on any page including the ez pages, then you have to go back into those pages and make the link to the images you used begin with the https://

Re: Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

Does that apply to all pages or only those that are viewed in ssl?

Re: Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

Potentially ALL pages could be accessed via HTTPS and so all images should be called via a relative address instead of an absolute address.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

In my case, the solution was simple, but not obvious. I had added a background image to the page, and that was where I had an absolute address.

Re: Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

Just to clarify:

I could use the https://www............. prefix on certain images and that is considered an absolute address?

What do you consider a 'relative' address? How much prefix would I leave off?

Thanks

Re: Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

ADDED NOTE:

I just went in the the ezpages and HTMLarea and changed the image link to a relative one....It changed it back to an absolute link using only the http:// prefix and the site generated the secure/non secure message. So I think that the images placed by the HTMLarea must be hardcoded to https://

right? wrong?

Re: Pulling my hair out over secure and nonsecure items...

My issue ended up being js related. The call to the script was relative, so it has to be something within the script itself, but that is way outside my league.

Thanks for he help, it got me to look in places I hadn't thought of.
