EMERGENCY! Won't go down for maintenance!

I've just upgraded the website. I've set it to down for maintenance in the admin panel. The admin panel states the warning that it is down for maintenance but it isn't!

I've just gone to the home page and it is there working fine...but it should be down for maintenance!

HELP! Am in mass panic.

It's even more of an emergency than that now. The admin panel that i log into is showing that i'm using the purpleshades template but when I go to icklebits.co.uk its showing the lavender template.

Oh god what have I done!

This is what I did.

1. Original shop was in main directory
2. uploaded new shop.
3. Edited all the files till it worked fine.
4. Copied all those files over to overwrite the original shop in main directory.

now the website showing doesn't match what is in the admin screen.

ARGH

make sure that your admin is talking to the same database that your catalog side is.

verify the DB settings in both configure.php files

Which database do I want it to be talking to? The original or the new?

It wont even let me edit main page to put warning message on..argh

Okay I found a configure.php file in the includes folder. I found 4 times that it had the address for the test shop. I deleted them from it.

Where do I find the other one?

Let me try and explain better.

We'll call my original shop "oldshop". and the new one where it was being tested the "testshop".

The moved one is now called "newshop".

Right, when you go to my domain name I see what I would expect to see for the new shop (lavender template). If I go to the admin screen I get things that were on the oldshop.

I'm sorry tha tI'm babbling but I can't relax until I can get it down for maintenance.

you have 1 in includes and one in admin/includes.

as for which DB they want to talk to, thats up to you but they both need talk to the same one

I've altered one of them but now I have an error message about my database on the domain screen.

Better than having a dodgy cart I suppose!

Well I've gone into includes> and put the database in
and
admin>includes and put the database in.

It still says there is a problem connecting to the database.

Should I just re install everything again???
