change/delete/edit page titles above text areas

hello, sorry for the long post, but i have 3 questions concerning the page titles appearing on every page. i've searched but just cannot find the exact answers.

i want to change the page title font and size that is displayed on every page, below the "Home::Current page name" file tree and above the page text.

basically, my background doesn't work with the large grey/green (i'm not color proficient so excuse if i am off on the color here) font that comes from the original template. i'm sure it's in the stylesheet but i don't know what to look for.

second, if needed can i turn this off in the admin? if not then how?

third, i changed the name of the "Shipping & Returns" link in the Information sidebox to "Shipping Policies" , but when you go to that page the large grey/green title mentioned above, remains unchanged. It does not change in the breadcrumb either.

please assume i'm clueless in your reply, thanks and peace:-)

Re: change/delete/edit page titles above text areas

hi, here my test site, pleas enote this is adult oriented material, no nudity or graphic content.

http://74.50.4.77/index.php

basically, it's the title of every single page you visit, below the logo, above the breadcrumb. on the index page, its: "Congratulations! You have successfully installed your Zen Cart™ E-Commerce Solution."

on the Shipping Policy link, its "Shipping and Returns" etc etc etc

how do i change this title, ie font size or remove?

Re: change/delete/edit page titles above text areas

i want to change the page title font and size that is displayed on every page, below the "Home::Current page name" file tree and above the page text.
You can take direct control of this with adding this to your stylesheet.css file and adjust to suit:

#productListHeading {
	font-family: verdana;
	font-size: 1.5em;
	color: #000000;
        }

second, if needed can i turn this off in the admin? if not then how?
Also stylesheet.css

#productListHeading {
	display: none;
        }

i changed the name of the "Shipping & Returns" link in the Information
You did not state where you changed this but check your copy of english.php and find this text to alter (red highlight)

// information box text in sideboxes/information.php
  define('BOX_HEADING_INFORMATION', 'Information');
  define('BOX_INFORMATION_PRIVACY', 'Privacy Notice');
  define('BOX_INFORMATION_CONDITIONS', 'Conditions of Use');
  define('BOX_INFORMATION_SHIPPING', 'Shipping & Returns');

Re: change/delete/edit page titles above text areas

hi kobra,
well it worked and it didn't. i added the coding for the productlistheading and it works only for the product pages, but not any other links in any of the sideboxes: ie the Information sidebox, More Information boxes or even the title on the Home page. Is there more code I can add to control the title on these pages also?

second, concerning the Shipping and Returns page title, i originally edited the english.php exactly where you stated to change the name in the sidebox, however, when you go to that page, the title is still Shipping & Returns while the link name in the sidebox is SHipping Policies. It's the same with every link in the sideboxes except the category links.

in the bottom left sidebox where i have the Affilaite and Wholesale program links, if you go to those pages, the page title is still Page 2, or Page 3 and so on even though i changed the code in the english.php. The link name changes but not the title.

To me there must be another location to control the page titles, any suggestions? thanks!

I suggest that you get FireFox and the web develpers tools to dicern the tags of items that you want to alter.

You can also use the admin > tools > developers tool kit > and search for text in the files - like page_2 to find the files where this text is for alteration

Re: change/delete/edit page titles above text areas

hello to everyone who is reading this, i solved some of these issues and one is still unchanged. i thought i'd give an update here that allows you to:

  1. edit the Category Page Title font, color and size for links in the Category/Products sidebox.

  2. change the text of the links in other sideboxes, for this example, I want the links in the information sidebox to be Shipping Policy instead of Shipping & Returns. and in the More Information sidebox, want to read Affiliate and Wholesale Programs instead or Page 2 and Page 3.

  3. change the Text of the Page Title for each of the links we edited in Step 2. when you change the text in step 2 it does nto change the Page Title.

first, to change Page Title font and size for the category/product sidebox, edit the /includes/templates/YOURCUSTOM/css/stylesheets.css and use:

#productListHeading as provided by kobra previously in this post, and this will allow you to change the font and size or turn it off.

however, this only controls the Page Titles for the links in the category/product sidebox. this does not affect any of the other sideboxes as far as i can tell. it did not change them for me. to see example, here's my link (non graphic adult content) http://74.50.4.77/ and when you click on any of the "Styles" in the category sidebox, you'll see on the next page that the Title is in Black. Now click a link from any other sidebox and the next Page Title will be in a green/grey, not black.

I haven't figured out how to change the settings for these non category pages. Any help is still gratefully appreciated.

second, To change the text of the link names for any sidebox, ex, in the Information sidebox I preferred to change "Shipping & Returns" to "Shipping Policies". First, find /include/languages/english.php and find the section below. edit any of the italized names will change what appears in your sidebox. Editing the bold 'Information' and **More Information' **changes the name in the sidebox header.

// information box text in sideboxes/information.php
define('BOX_HEADING_INFORMATION', 'Information');
define('BOX_INFORMATION_PRIVACY', 'Privacy Notice');
define('BOX_INFORMATION_CONDITIONS', 'Conditions of Use');
define('BOX_INFORMATION_SHIPPING', 'Shipping & Returns');
define('BOX_INFORMATION_CONTACT', 'Contact Us');
define('BOX_BBINDEX', 'Forum');
define('BOX_INFORMATION_UNSUBSCRIBE', 'Newsletter Unsubscribe');

or

// information box text in sideboxes/more_information.php - were TUTORIAL_
define('BOX_HEADING_MORE_INFORMATION', 'More Information');
define('BOX_INFORMATION_PAGE_2', 'Page 2');
define('BOX_INFORMATION_PAGE_3', 'Page 3');
define('BOX_INFORMATION_PAGE_4', 'Page 4');

**as a side note, before changing a file, i've found it easy to simply use my FTP to change the .php or .css file extension to simply .OLD or .TEMP or even .ORIGINAL to remind me of the default file i started with. then when i upload the file it acts as my backup. i simply have to erase the bad file and restore the .php or .css to the file name.

back to the updated names, you'll now see the updated name change but when you go to that link, the Page Title remains unchanged. in my case, the Shipping Policy page was still titled Shipping & Returns, and the Pages 2,3 and 4 did not change to one of our program titles.

third, To change the Page Titles for any of these non-category/ sideboxes, you must now open* /include/languages/english/* folder and find the file that matches the BOX_INFORMATION links above. in my case i edited the shippinginfo.php, page2.php, page3.php, page4.php and so on. simply edit the italicized portion in each file. they are very small files and easy to update:

define('NAVBAR_TITLE', 'Shipping & Returns');
define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Shipping & Returns');

hopefully this helps. as stated above i still don't know how to change the fonts of these Page Titles for the sidebox links that are not in the categories/prodcuts sidebox.

peace,
j

I, too, am trying to figure out how to disable/turn off (via admin) the page titles both on the product pages AND (even more) the non-product pages. Anyone? Beuler?

Re: change/delete/edit page titles above text areas

I've just found a quick way to disable Page Headings for EZ Pages.

In the stylesheet.css just type in

#ezPagesHeading { display: none; }
