Override the tpl_modules_upcoming

HI

I am attempting to override the above mentioned file. I followed to the best of my abilities the Tutorial"How do I set up the template overrides"

I created a folder called /includes/templates/hebrew/templates and place the updated tpl_module

I also added the hebrew template via the admin panel (however the classic shows as default).

The changes in the tpl file are not showing on the website...

Any suggestions?

:frusty:

Regards

In admin, did you go to tools, template selection,
change classic template to hebrew(nameofyourtemplate)?

Re: Override the tpl_modules_upcoming

Hi Misty..

The only choice I have is a dropdown with only "Classic Contemporary Green" available.

Hi Misty..

The only choice I have is a dropdown with only "Classic Contemporary Green" available.
If you have created your own custom template, which includes copies of all the files in Classic folder..
then upload your new template folder, named hebrew, containing copies of Classic template files, to .. i.e.
/includes/templates/hebrew/
If you have correctly done this exercise..
then you should see your hebrew template appear via admin/tools/template selection option, drop down box...
YOU WILL NEED to adjust the template_info.php file to reflect
name of your new template i.e hebrew
BACKUP Classic template folder BEFORE you start copying/altering
anything...

Re: Override the tpl_modules_upcoming

You don't actually have to copy all the files in all the /classic/ folders.

To create a very basic custom template (you can build from there), you need:

  • includes/languages/YOUR_TEMPLATE/english.php
  • includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/index.php
  • includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/header.php (to change the logo)
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_header.php
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_footer.php
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/images/logo.gif
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet.css

Anywhere you see a /classic/ folder, you can create a folder for your custom template. You can copy the necessary files from either the /classic/ folder, the /template_default/ folder or the parent folder.

Edit includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php to give your template identifying information so you'll recognize it in the admin under tools->template selection.

Re: Override the tpl_modules_upcoming

I think I see your problem.

mrrcomp:

I created a folder called /includes/templates/hebrew/templates and place the updated tpl_module

The folder should be /includes/templates/hebrew. Try moving anything you have in /includes/templates/hebrew/templates/ to /includes/templates/hebrew/ and see if that helps.

Re: Override the tpl_modules_upcoming

Meir, did you create includes/templates/hebrew/template_info.php and edit it to give your template a name? You can copy the template_info.php from either the /classic/ or /template_default/ folders. This is what allows your template to be selected in the admin. If you can't select the template from the admin, the files won't be overridden.

Re: Override the tpl_modules_upcoming

I'm still a bit jetlagged , but it sounds like something's misplaced in the folder/file structure.

Re: Override the tpl_modules_upcoming

Hi Mary..

Welcome home from where ever uyou got the jet lag! Hope you enjoyed yourself.

I certainly agree that something must be not in the right place but can't figure out for the life of me what where and why! :frusty:

Have tried several senarios but still nothing seems to effect the tpl file!

Thanks for everything
