Try this: Go to Admin>Configuration>Product Display>
**Display Product Description **and set to the desired number of characters to display.

Your template folder name, /theme001/, looks like a Template Monster name. I have heard that they have resellers who may sell the templates under another brand, so your seller may not know anything about the mechanics of the template.

I suggest you post in the Template Monster: Public Service Announcement thread and ask fellis (TM quality improvement officer) for help with this. It is a very public place, and if anything can get an answer, it will be there.
