Downloadable & tangible products in one order with various payment methods

This is really two questions in one, hoping someone can explain how Zencart can deal with a situation like this:

Customer purchases both downloadable and tangible products in one order. If payment is by PayPal (and accepted) will the downloadable portion of the order become available automatically?

Now what if payment is by check/money order - I would want to prevent the customer from downloading the downloadable portion until the payment has been sent to me.

The Downloads are available based on Orders Status ...

The Orders Status is set by the Payment Module ...

The Configuration ... Attribute Settings is set so that Orders Status <=4 or >=2 is immediately available ...

So Pending (orders_status 1) would not be immediately available but Producessing (orders_status 2) or Delivered (orders_status 3) would be available right away ...

To reactivate, there is Update (orders_status 4)
