New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

Hi,

I have a customer trying to check out from the country of GUAM. I am using the newly updated USPS module and the error on step 2 is showing:
-2147219080 - Missing value for Country.

How can I add that value?

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

Hm.. Can you try:

123 Kamute Loop
Astumbo Garden
Dededo, 96929
Guam, Guam

The results you are showing me are for Domestic Mail. Isn't Guam another Country? There is no longer an Airmail Parcel Post option on the new USPS. So I only checked "Global Priority". But USPS doesn't support Priority to all countries so perhaps I need to enable another option for Guam.

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

How exactly is that address entered if you look in the Admin ... Customers ...

It builds for me as:
Guam Inc
Guam First Guam Last
123 Kamute Loop
Astumbo Garden, GU 96929
United States

And I get on 5lbs:

United States Postal Service (1 x 5.00lbs) (Express Mail (1 - 2 days)) $30.70
United States Postal Service (1 x 5.00lbs) (Priority Mail (2 - 3 days)) $15.85
United States Postal Service (1 x 5.00lbs) (Parcel Post (4 - 7 days)) $14.39
United States Postal Service (1 x 5.00lbs) (Media Mail) $3.49
United States Postal Service (1 x 5.00lbs) (Bound Printed Material) $4.40
United States Postal Service (1 x 5.00lbs) (Library) $3.30

Hmm where does the United States part get "Built" as you say? The customer entered their information as all international customers do. With the Country field showing "Guam"

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

Guam is an odd one ...

If you want to use UPS you would use the form given ... where the country is Guam

If you want to use USPS you use United States as the Country as Guam is part of the United States and thus recognized as such by the United States Postal Service ...

The Virgin Islands work the same way ...

So ... if you only use USPS or UPS you need to alter your countries to force the right address ...

Ajeh didn't ask for the checkout page. She asked for the info in the Admin->Customers area. But if it will help. I attached it below:

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

Well I wasn't sure, but I see now that GUAM is a territory of the USA, kinda like Puerto Rico. I changed the country to United States on my customer's account and it works fine. I suppose in upcoming versions of ZC Guam should be removed from the default country code list as it is no longer a country.

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

The problem is ... USPS needs Guam from the country United States ... and UPS needs Guam from the country Guam ...

The two do not work for the same country codes when obtaining live rates ...

Now if you can get UPS to understand that Guam is part of the US it would be great ...

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

Like I say I have found this on Guam and Virgin Islands ... there might be others but I forget off the top of my head that work this way with UPS and USPS ...

You'd think they could work together ...

oy, I think Puerto Rico is another one of these.

My problem is: I use UPS for U.S. addresses, and USPS for international addresses.

USPS needs me to identify PR as a state in the U.S. and UPS needs me to identify PR as a country... totally violating my zones schema.

Ack!

What to do (besides take these orders by phone)?

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

Diana -

I think you can add PR and Guam to both the states and the countries lists -

Then yell at UPS for being stupid :D

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

thanks, Kim!

Actually, I do have PR in both lists.

The problem is, I only offer USPS to countries other than U.S. and I only offer UPS to states in the US. UPS says PR is a country, and USPS says it's a state... hence my dilemma. I never offer both shipping options to a customer.

hmm.... do I create a new zone definition that only include PR and has USPS shipping?

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

hmm after monkeying around in my sandbox, I see that there is a problem with that last idea because a shipping module can only go to one zone.

I can create new zone country PR with subzone PR but USPS doesn't like it, and I have already dedicated my UPS module to a USA zone.

If I could apply multiple zones to a shipping module, this could work.

Well, I could try and create a special shipping module that's only for PR! (that doesn't seem right.)

.... maybe I'm missing something?

Re: New USPS module not supporting GUAM?

Check your countries table for 2 entrees:

INSERT INTO countries VALUES (73,'France','FR','FRA','1');
INSERT INTO countries VALUES (74,'France, Metropolitan','FX','FXX','1');

UPS uses one and USPS uses another if I am not mistaken ...
