Shipping costs

I've only got started with using zen cart and i'm a bit confused with setting up the shipping rates. Based in the UK I've installed the Royal Mail shippimg rates, but I can't get the shopping cart to display the correct shipping rates.
What I'm trying to do is set up different shipping costs for different items - some weigh a few ounces, some weigh up to 22lbs.
I'd be very greatful for any advice

I'm in the US so I don't know if this will help, but go to Localization --> currencies and make sure your currency is the default and not the US dollar. This was an issue for pricing for someone else.

And also, there might be an issue between ounces and kilograms? I think default product weights are ounces? (I'm in the US and have never had to make changes to any of this, so don't quote me on it.) But maybe that's a place to start looking for answers?

Thanks for that - the royal mail setup does kg and I think I was weighing in pounds.
I'm finding my way around it gradually I think. There's a lot to work out!
