Anyone uses Japanese on php4.4.6? Mail garbled, pls help.

I wonder if this is the right place to post... but hope someone can help me.

Is anyone using Japanese on php4.4.6?

I had no problem with php4.4.4. But now all the notification emails (welcome email, order emai, etc.) are garbled (mojibake) since hosting company upgraded the php version to 4.4.6.

Suddenly the problem is solved. I contacted server hosting company and found out that they had made some changes with the server settings.

So the thing is program works just fine on php4.4.6.
Now I can receive Japanese emails with no problem.
