category links showing up in duplicate

On my site at the bottom of the main page there are links to the categories, they are showing up twice - it is the same if you click a category, the subcategories appear in the same place doubled up. Any idea why it is happening? I did not change anything that i know of.. how do i turn off those links altogether?

It looks like that it's showing double, because the first one is supposed to be the image. Instead, it's just showing the alt text for them. You might have done something with images to deep them from displaying???

I don't have any category images. yet. how would I go about disabling the categories being listed there at all?

Well, you can turn each and every category off in Admin>Categories......just click on the green square icons, turning each one red, to de-activate the category, but you've got so many categories and products.......I'd just work on getting the images for each one, instead of de-activating them.......but, that's just me.

I have this problem in Firefox. I got rid of category images (found solution to that in another thread - basically changed the file name to 'none'.) All is fine in IE but Firefox still displays the alt tag as text. Anybody know where to just remove the alt text completely from the category display?
