Username and Password

I am really new to this does anyone know how to make it so that your customer has to type in a username and password to even access the site?

I am in wholesale and I need to approve them before they can get on and browse.

What you need is under Configuration >> Customer Details >> Customer Approval Status where you'll find the following settings:

Customer must be Authorized to shop
0= Not required
1= Must be Authorized to Browse
2= May browse but no prices unless Authorized
3= Customer May Browse and May see Prices but Must be Authorized to Buy
