Changing The Look Of Catetory Name.....Weird Question...Please Look

OK so i have a huge problem i just cant figure out. What i want is for my category names to look like this

**Baby's Health **

Cradle Cap, Diaper Rash,
Soothing, Teething, More...

instead of just having

Baby's Health

i went into the database and changed the varchar so that there was more room for longer category names, that worked fine, my only problem is i want the actual category name like Baby's Health to use the h1 tag.
so i wrote out the category name like this

<h1>Baby's Health</h1> <br><br> Cradle Cap, Diaper Rash, Soothing, Teething, More...

but then of course at the very top of the page in the blue bar it showed <h1>Baby's Health</h1>

is there a way to do this.
i would like to no have to create another side box as i want to use better categories.
thanks so much for looking and any help

cara

Re: Changing The Look Of Catetory Name.....Weird Question...Please Look

sure i didn't give a url because i didn't think anyone would need one. i just added the first two categories so you can see what i mean

http://www.gothenaturalway.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=250

Baby's Health And Children's Health are how i want them to look, but if you look in the blue bar the <h1> and </h1> tags show. i just want to know if there is another way around this.

thanks alot

If you want <h1> tags only in the sidebox, then you are going to have to dig through the code that creates the lists for the categories sidebox and add them there.

Re: Changing The Look Of Catetory Name.....Weird Question...Please Look

that's what i figured i had to do but my problem is i only want the h1 tags on the category name not the description part of the category.

this is the name i put in the category name field

<h1>Children's Health</h1>Learning & Concentration, Mood & Behavior, Child Obesity, More...

i only want the Children's Health to be <h1> the rest of the name i want regular size font.

so if i change the font or h1 properties for the category side box it will effect the whole name.

i know this is a strange problem.

thanks for your help

enchantedlingerie,

I took a look at your site.

I mean you no disrespect, the baby is so cute!, but the side box is very busy.

I think you might benefit from a CSS flyout menu where the first level is very simple yet bold and inviting.

**Baby's Health **
Children's Health
Men's Health
etc...

One should be able to click on a main category item and go to the submenu pages you now have, or bypass the submenu and go direct to those lower level pages from the fly out submenus. This would inform the visitor of what's within the main categories without cramming it into the sidebox.

the side box is not done yet, that is not even the side box i was using i just threw a couple of examples into that side box to show how i want it to look. once done everything is very separate and clear. none of the site is done. Everything will be very different in a week or so.

Thank you for the suggestion though.

I'm sure you have it all figured out.

Have a refreshing glass of Zinfandel, and good luck.

Hilarious! Nobody even answered this girls question!

I don't get people sometimes....Have a glass of wine? How does that fix the problem?

I'd like to know how to do this same thing that she originally asked in the beginning of this thread.

How do you do it?

Re: Changing The Look Of Catetory Name.....Weird Question...Please Look

If there was a way to just do it, that answer would have been given.

What the question as posed requires is to insert an <h1> tag at the beginning of each top cat (trivial to do in /includes/templates/your_template/sideboxes/product_listing.php) and an </h1> in the middle of the category name text (non-trivial, and I don't know of any way to do it without somehow splitting the cat name text.)

The thing to do is examine the actual need as distinct from the way the need was posed. Exactly what do you want there, how is it different from other places, and is there another reason beside the visual appearance in that location.

Re: Changing The Look Of Catetory Name.....Weird Question...Please Look

enchantedlingerie, in your ultimate layout you are going to have several separate categories boxes, correct? How do you intend to organize the categories/links in those boxes? Having the subtext part of the top cat name seems like it would be redundant if the subcats are actually accessible from the menu. And does the extra text need to appear anywhere else beside the categories menu? With more info, we might be able to offer useful suggestions.

The Categories Dressing mod has a number of methods for adding to what is displayed, and one of them might be adaptable to your needs.
