Re: help installing stock by attribute

To Install SQL patches etc.. you need to login to your Admin and go to:

Tools > Install SQL Patches

Paste the code of the SQL query(s) you want to run into the box and click the "Send" button.

Re: help installing stock by attribute

OK I think I did it. But now how do I start using this feature??

Sorry for being a silly noob

In the wiki it says : To use, log into the admin area, click on Catalog->Products with Attributes Stock to modify inventory levels of your products by attributes.

but I don't see the "products with attributes" !?

am I missing something? did I not install it correctly?

Re: help installing stock by attribute

No, you are in the right spot.

  1. Did you UPLOAD all the files associated with the install? There are several parts to installing third party add-ons. You have to upload the files that come with the add-on to your server (instructions are usually provided with the package), and then sometimes you have to run an SQL query (as you did).

  2. If you have all the files in place, then have you added any attributes to any of your products yet? If not, you will not see any attributes to run stock against?

To add attributes to a product (like "Red". "Yellow", Small, Large, etc...) you need to first create the attribute name, then create the value.

You can do this by going to

Catalog > Attributes Controller

Ajeh has provided some great instructions on how to use attributes here:

Hope that helps!

Re: help installing stock by attribute

I believe that is a third party add on correct? If so, have you tried to contact the creator of it to find out how to work with it?

I don't personally have it installed so I can't tell you the "exact" route to take (or I would). The owner of it may be able to direct you down the right path pretty quickly.

Re: help installing stock by attribute

Look under the Catalog tab and there should be a listing for "Products with Attributes Stock". That will bring up a screen, then for the product ID, click the link "Add Quantity For Product Variant".

Hope that helped.

Re: help installing stock by attribute

I'm having trouble with this as well. I've entered the code via Install SQL patches, but I get this error:

1062 Duplicate entry 'STOCK_SHOW_LOW_IN_CART' for key 2
in:
[INSERT INTO zen_configuration (configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, last_modified, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES ('Show stock when low', 'STOCK_SHOW_LOW_IN_CART', 'false', 'When customer places more items in cart than are available, show the available amount on the shopping cart page:', '9', '6', NULL, now(), NULL, "zen_cfg_select_option(array('true', 'false')," );]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

Re: help installing stock by attribute

hello. I'm a complete beginner to all this and could do with your help. I'm also trying to get the Stock by attribute plug in working.

What I dont understand is the bit about "Install SQL Patches". I've gone to tools / install sql patches but now I'm stuck.

What exactly is it I am supposed to enter into the query field? Is it some code? If so where do I get it from?

THere is a file that downloaded with the Stock by Attributes package, its called stock_attribute.sql Is the code located in this file or something? Do I upload this file???

Sorry, very confused, this is all real new to me.

Appreciate the help (assume I'm an airhead!)

reread this thread; your question is answered in post #3.
the code is in the stock by attribute folder along with everything else.

Re: help installing stock by attribute

hi, thanks for the reply.

Actually post 3 didnt answer my question, as I said I'm an airhead to this whole thing and needed basic info. It says in post 3 to insert the code but doesnt say where to get it. I figured it out in the meantime tho and opened up the file in textedit and found the code that I assume needed inserting. All done and dusted by winging it. My fault for playing in a realm where I dont understand the basics I guess.
