Re: Display Categories on main page..HELP

If you are referring to Always Show Categories based on the Top Level Categories ... then you would go to the Configuration ... Layout Settings ...

Turn it ON with:

Categories - Always Show on Main Page
Always Show Categories on Main Page
0= off
1= on
Default category can be set to Top Level or a Specific Top Level

Then set the Category to open with to be the Top Level Category which is categories_id 0 with:

Main Page - Opens with Category
0= Top Level Categories
Or enter the Category ID#
Note: Sub Categories can also be used Example: 3_10

Do you have both Categories and Products showing when you go to the Catalog ... Categories/Products ... in the Top Level Category?

Yes.. but the one product is disabled!!

Note: it is only disabled because we are unable to delete it.. we get a 404 error when we try to delete it.. we get the same 404 error when we try to edit it.

Re: Display Categories on main page..HELP

Try making a disabled Category and move that Product to that Category ...

Categories hold Categories or Products ... never both

Next, see if that works ... if not, switch to Classic Template ... does it work now?

Re: Display Categories on main page..HELP

Backup your database ...

Then, go to your phpMyAdmin ...

Browse your database and look in the follow tables for that products_id and delete any your find for that products_id in these:
products
products_description
products_attributes
products_discount_quantity
featured
specials
reviews
products_to_categories

Re: Display Categories on main page..HELP

I am having this same isssue... Though I do not have any disabled products or categories. I have Categories - Always Show on Main Page
set to 1 and Main Page - Opens with Category
0. And they still will not display on the main page... what else could be causing this? http://www.fludwatches.ca/zencart/

Re: Display Categories on main page..HELP

I would say to switch to the Classic template to see if it is your templates and override files but you are using the Classic template and not your own personal templates and overrides ... :blink:

You could get Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com and compare your files to the original files and see where you have broken the original files ...

I think you have cut out some code or something on them ...

I am assuming you are using v1.3.8 and that you have no Products in the Top Level Category whether they are on or off ...
