Configuring two sites to keep product quantities up to date

Hi,

I have two sites. One is for the local area and has certain aspects that deal with local ordering, such as lower delivery and local advertising. The other deals with the rest of the country and has different aspects for delivery and other things. Both sites sell the same products and that gives me a problem.

If I want to load products up to the sites, I have to do this separately and this can be very time consuming. Also, if i sell something on one site, I have to manually adjust the other to show the change in my inventory.

My question is this.

  1. Is there a way to configure the sites so that I can upload products to one site, and it automatically add it to the other?

and

  1. Is there a way to make it so that when someone buys from one store, the inventory quantity for the other is automatically adjusted?

I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone can give on this subject.

i would also want to know the answer to this. my thinking is yes using the same database. but you fear overloading it?? but you can't make different options as it is the same database.
