Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

I've downloaded and installed 1.11.02 (about 10 times now!!) and it is not creating a feed file. When I switch on 'Debug', no information is displayed in the pop up box. I can see the extra configuration settings, but the problem is when I try to create the feed.
I changed to UTF8 using the mod in the add ons.

I might have to go back to 1.10.1 (if no solution is found) as this worked fine apart from some encoding errors.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

we have updated to the new gppgle merchant center feed on our zen cart and it is showing the warning 'missing recommended attribute - google product category' I understand that this is not required , i found the 'default product category' on the config of google merchant feed in admin, but my products are a broad range of catering supplies, bar products, catering equipment, furniture, glassware and much more.
I can't find any suitable category on google product category taxonomy the closest ive found is:
Business & Industrial > Food Service

Anyone offer any advice?
Thanks

Just use Business & Industrial > Food Service. Be sure to enter it in the correct format for xml, which would be Business & Industrial > Food Service.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

I uploaded a new feed to Google and get the warnings for MPN and Google Product Category. I have an exemption for the MPN but can't understand why I am getting the warning for product category. I have inserted:

Apparel & Accessories > Clothing Accessories > Baby & Toddler Accessories

from the taxonomy, in correct XML format, into the Default Product Category.

Is there another setting that I am missing? Have latest versions of GMCF and Product Fields. Any help appreciated!

Nope. I had 1062 errors, (duplicate entries), but those didn't prevent the mod from working.

I'm just spit-balling, but have you tried it by trimming back one level to Apparel & Accessories > Clothing Accessories.

Is the feed directory in the root named simply feed, and have no sub-directory? Also, check permissions on the feed directory. Should be either 755 or 777, depending on your host's configuration.

That didn't work either. Any other suggestions?

Is it generating the GPC attribute in the feed file and not populating it, or not generating it at all?

Post your configuration settings and I'll compare them to mine to see if there's any differences that might be causing the issue.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

I had a lot of problems with this and spent hours before getting it to work.

On the Feeder Configuration page, set Product Type to "Top". If you have more than one Default Product Category, you have to set up different feeds for each category. See post 3091 for full explanation.

OK...will change that to "top" as right now I have it at "full". I don't have more than one default category so no need to set up different feeds.

Thank you!

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

I don't know if it's causing the problem, but your store description should be plain text, not xml format.

Output Directory feed/google/ Info - Why is there info at the end of this? This line is for folder entries only. Do you have feed/google/info in your root?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

My feed name changed to feed/google after the installation of Numinix Product Fields. It is not in the root but rather inside the feed file.

feed....google....domain_products_en.xml.

I changed the description to plain text.

There should not be "info" at the end of the output directory path unless you actually have a folder, (not a file), named info.

So, if in your store root directory you have:

feed/google

The output directory needs to be

feed/google/

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

OOPS! I just realized that "info" appears on a lot of the settings. Must be some kind of copy/paste thing.

So, the only weird thing I see is the store info. Other than that the settings match mine.
