Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Hi,

I will be putting up a thread on my website to discuss commercial mods, but since you already posted here, I will answer your question.

The documentation for Magic SEO URLs Add-on needs to be updated. It uses the Magic SEO URLs cache system. These URLs are created in a folder called cache. The add-on then uses the URLs, if they exist. Otherwise, it just outputs a PHP URL as a backup so that at least a link is still created. In order for a cached link to exist, someone must visit that products page. So, you can either visit each page yourself, or just wait for users to activate the cached URL. I'm not sure if robots can have this effect...

Please send any further questions directly through the Numinix website and keep the Zen Cart forum for discussions about free open-source contributions.

Thank you for your support.

I really have no clue. Firstly, it's not happening to anyone else. Secondly, the Google Base Feeder is working for you and they are basically the same. Send me an email and maybe we can sort this out privately since it seems to be an isolated issue.

Btw, this is the Google Base Feeder thread, not the eBay Exporter thread :p

WOWZER!, Thats funny im sorry to list this in the wrong thread I will move it tonight to the correct thread and then I will email you. I also will do some more research on it to giveyou some more information.

Sorry for the confusion. lol

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

I installed this mod and can get to the Create/Upload point...It says it uploaded my file, but I don't know what to do next because nothing is showing in my GoogleBase account.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Trying to upgrade from 1.5.1 and I keep getting errors on the SQL update.

The SQL is calling for configuration and configuration_group, but mine are listed as zen_configuration and zen_configuration_group.

Is this an odd install on my side or a bug in the sql?

Thanks,

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

OK - sorry for the false alarm yesterday. I was actually upgrading it so that I could ask for support for the following issue:

It works great to create the feed, but when I try to upload it using the base feeder, it starts to go and then appears to time out. I never get an error, the little progress bar on the bottom of my browser just goes away and the page doesn't update.

This is what I get in the pop-up box:

Google Base Feeder v.1.5.3 28.08.2007 10:25 started 2007/12/19 07:28:06
Feed file - /home/mystore/public_html/feed/mystore.xml
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...

I tried adding the php.ini file as recommended to prevent timeouts. It takes longer to stop now, but it still stops. I can upload the file via ftp and it works fine, but I'd really like to automate the process.

I setup the following CRON job:

GET "http://mystore.com/googlefroogle.php?feed=yes&upload=yes"
(I added the quotes around the link to prevent the forum software from abbreviating the link)

I get the following result in my e-mail:

Google Base Feeder v.1.5.3 28.08.2007 10:25 started 2007/12/19 04:00:03<br />
Feed file - /home/mystore/public_html/feed/mystore.xml<br />
Processing: Feed - Yes, Upload - No<br />
Google Base File Complete In 0.082448 Seconds 9 Records<br />

(I changed my real store location to "mystore" on general paranoia principles.)

Also, I have the Live Product Feeder installed and it works with no trouble at all. Uploads just fine without timing out.

Any suggestions?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Just thought I would pass on my experience with a client's google_base.xml file creation. The store name is https://www.jm-offroad.com but the name of the business is J&M Offroad and that is what I have configured in the admin.

So when I created my Google Base file it stuck the ampersand (&) sign in the Title and the XML file won't parse.

I just went in the XML file and took out the ampersand and then it parsed fine.

I just wanted to let people know in case they had similar problems with the ampersand or other characters.

Actually as I was writing this I thought to go ahead and enter & for the code.

I still had to manually change the code.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Here's a question... My items are now listing in GoogleBase but it's pulling the _Lrg images for each product, when ideally it should be pulling the _Med images, as I do not have _Lrg images for all products, soooo how would this get fixed?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Hi there,

Using Cart 1.3.7 and feeder 1.6.4 for last month or so. Recently noticed that a few of my products are not appearing in base searches, they appear in 'my items'.

There is nothing special about the items (that I can see anyways) and they are spread over a different categories, the xml file looks ok and like I say, I can see them in google base 'My Items'

Anyone any ideas why they are missing from the searches?

Thanks

I was really hoping someone might be able to respond to this.

Does anyone have ANY ideas?

Thanks,

Uh... Is this an automated response? I just explained that I had updated to the latest version because I knew that would be the first reply. The results I just posted show v 1.5.3

Yes. 1.5.3 is not the latest version. The latest version will display 1.6.7.

Sigh... Perhaps update the ZenCart website? Or, if you aren't supporting it there anymore for some reason, place a notice or remove it?

Hmm. I thought it over and have decided to upload all current versions to the Zen Cart website. I will now maintain both download sections with the latest updates.... Starting in the morning :)

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Numinix (or anyone else who has an answer), do you know if this mod really works with sites with a relatively large amount of products?

I have three sites, on has just over 3,000 products, the other two have over 15,000 products. This mod works perfectly on the site with about 3000 products, but on the sites with more products it only produces a file for about 5,000 products.

I would think this might be due to a time out, but I always get the successful file created message: "Processing: Feed - Yes, Upload - No"

If I try to open the created file with excel, it gives me this error message:

The file cannot be opened because: The following tags were not closed: rss, channel

Also, although Google processes all products in the file, it also gives this error:

We didn't understand some of the XML formatting in your file. You may be missing a tag or have a nesting or formatting error. Bad data line #75726

That's the last line from the file and it just has </item> in it.

I've been updating to every new version as soon as it is released hoping that'll be the version that works; unfortunately, that's not been the case for me.
