Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

can somebody tell me what the error below means. I got it when i changed the feeds to fed in the google froogle files. i made this change because woz was interfering, i have posted a few times on the error, people were nice enough to help out

so i created a folder and added the google froogle file, now it seems to work, but i get this when i try to create a feed

and there is no feed created.

any ideas as to what my issue. i seemed the remember when i first added base, i got the same message, but i cant remember how i get the feed to create.

I upgraded to 1.7.3 but the feed now generates errors.
Processed: 232
Inserted: 173

Before, with 1.7 it worked just fine. What changed so it gives me now encoding errors?

For now I restored db and uploaded 1.7 files again and resubmit the feed. We will see now....

Yep, 1.7 works without errors. No encoding errors anymore and all products are accepted. Sorry to say but 173 seems to have some issues, at least for me. Great mod otherwise, very important for business...

Yes, each mod has their own configuration menu.

Can anyone recommend someone to tell me what I am doing wrong?

I have not received any feedback for what is probably a really simple problem, so I guess I need to bring money into the equation.

I need to get this working by tomorrow afternoon, so whatever it takes..

Rastabloke: you must be missing some files. Did you check if every one of them is up on your server? Maybe one of them failed?
Do you have the googlefroogle.php in your root folder? This one gets overlooked if you just upload the directories. Happend to me before when I upgraded. Just check everything. If all files are in the right place, it should show up under tools.

I appreciate the response, but I have re-downloaded GBF and re-uploaded the files many times.

Here is a screen shot. As you can see, the googlefroogle.php file that was in the root of the GBF files, is now in the root directory... And all of the files are there.

I am about ready to throw in the towel, the amount of times I have posted the same question makes me feel that I am spaming the forum.:lamo:

I understand your frustration. Sometimes there is no common solution. I found when I have a problem that nobody else seems to know about, I start with a fresh zen cart test installation. Then add the mod in question and see if the same problem persists. Then go from there...step by step.

Can someone tell me how to create my product feed once i click "here". for some reason it does not post itself in the feed folder.

Are permissions on your output folder (/feed) set to to 777?
You might also try deleting the feed file from that folder and then generate a new one after correct permissions are set on output folder.

Last time I took a look at the feed it showed that it processed but many items were not included due to errors. We did not ever have any errors in the past except one time. We wrote to Google and they told us they changed something in what "encoding" would be accepted and it worked from that point on ...... until now.

Thank You for your additional information.  We can adjust the 

expiration date on many items so this should take care of some of the issues.

Regarding the unsupported characters - this is where we are confused.
We never had this problem before except one time a long time ago to
which we wrote to Google and we were told that they changed the
encoding that would be accepted for our feed.

All of the items that now have these errors were previously accepted
by Google but all of a sudden are not being accepted.

Per one of our last posts - this is what Google wrote to us why the items were unable to be processed. We did not have this problem before and these item descriptions have not changed.Sure, I had problems with my feed with special characters just like this. When You edit an item with a WYSIWYG editor like FCK or htmlarea all special characters are saved as the character itself. Like the copyright symbol © or a superscript TM

You will need to edit your item with the TEXT only option and use the ascii code equivalent and save it.

Unfortunately every time you edit these items with a wysiwyg editor it will replace the ascii codes with the special character. I opted to NOT use them at all and saved the hassle.

-When I unzip the folder (google_base_froogle_feeder_1-7-0a) do I put the contents of the folder: the (google_base_feeder) folder on the root directory, or do I put the actual (google_base_froogle_feeder_1-7-0a) folder in the root directory.

-As I understand from reading previous posts, the googlefroogle.php file goes outside of the directory... which googlefroogle file are we a talking about? There is one of these in every folder.

You do Not upload the "google_base_froogle_feeder_1-7-0a" folder, just the stuff in the "google_base_feeder" folder like:

admin
feeds
includes
numinix_version
googlefroogle.php

into your sites Zen Cart root folder.

Make sure that the file googlefroogle.php is in the same folder that your root index.php is in.

You do NOT need to upload the sql_updates folder or any of the .sql .txt or .html files.

Does this mod upload the Sale Price, Specials Price or only the base Retail Price?
