Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

TrvlFox:

Yes. I was able to upload manually to google using the feed produced.

Well you can set it up to tell google base to grab your xml file automatically, that way you don't have to worry about doing it from your store.

What I found with this is that you have to update your file monthly otherwise the expiration dates in the feeder file will be wrong and it will get rejected.

Most stores add new products to their store once a day, week, month. I know I do, so that wouldn't apply to me. I update my feed when ever I add new products to my store. Even if you don't add new products you can always update your feed in your store monthly. Just delete your old feed and create new one. The new date will be updated. Thanks for the comment lankeeyankee

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Hello. Is there any way to make the image urls that this outputs absolute?

I use absolute urls to images on a different server for my producxts on zen cart(using easy populate).

This outputs the image urls as http://www.mysite.com/http://imagesite.com/image.jpg

My feed has been disapproved by google because of this.

Thanks.

Hi

Some apostrophe's and quotation marks are being replaced in the XML file by 'Â'. Consequently, these products do not make it into google base.

Is there a way of correcting this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Hi
Thanks for the mod
I cant get this to work with Magic SEO URLS on.
I have paid for and installed the Magic SEO URL mod, but when i set it to True in Zen cart Google Base Feeder settings, when I go to build the feed i just get the blank white page.

When i turn it off it works.

So... the company who make Magic SEO URL are VERY unhelpful, they just tell you to ask whoever made the Google Base Feeder.

So I am stuck! I saw someone else on this forum had this problem and managed to fix it.. but they didnt say how!

Can someone let me know the answer?

Should i just turn off the magic seo url setting in feeder, make the feed and then upload it then turn the magic seo url setting back on again? Will it work?

Please help! I just spend 70 euros on this mod becuase in the google base instructions it says works with Magic Seo URL but I just get the blank screen!

I think you have to buy the magic seo url addon for the feeds from the numinix site, the author of this google feed. or you could get your money back from magic seo url and use the free and excellently supported simple seo url that is available here.:D

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Hi there,

I don't have a solution for your problem, but what you suggested about doing a manual upload sounds like a great idea to me. I couldn't get the auto upload to work so I just upload mine on a monthly basis. There is no guarantee that it would work for you. Also, time is money, get it up now rather than later.

Hope this helps
Vicky

Ive tried it with magic seo url setting ON and OFF and still get the blank page when trying to make the feed.

Ive tried with this Magic SEO url too as mentioned previously, and that doesnt work.

I am interested to know if ANYONE here has got Google Base feeder to work with ANY seo url script!

I have two sites using the Google Base feeder. One using Magic SEO and one using Ultimate SEO (it's old an unsupported but this was before Simple SEO was available). That may not help your problem, but is a reference point.

I'd recommend posting the question in the simple seo url thread, well first do a search in that thread to see if someone has already asked about google base feeder, there probably already are questions and answers about it there, but if not then I know that the author is extremely helpful and will help you get it sorted.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Some of the products to not click through to my site once uploaded to Google Shopping. Sometimes it just takes you to a Google page that displays all the info - instead of linking directly to the product.

Any particular reason this would be happening?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Numinix,

I haven't gone through all of the rest of the posts yet, but there were several people throughout the thread who were saying that when they would try to upload their feed through the GBF add-on, it would say "Upload started..." and then say "Done" in the browser's status bar after a little bit. I was experiencing this as well. I wasn't the one who set up ZC or GBF, but I was brought in to fix the issue. The customer thought that it was because he had over 1,000 products in his inventory.

After spending hours reading this thread from post #1, and mucking around with the code (googefroogle.php and then google_base.php), I found that it was the "Google Base PASV" setting being set to true. When I changed it to false, regenerated the feed file and trying the upload again, it worked.

So I guess those who've checked with their ISP and can do PHP FTP functions and have tried the php.ini trick to no avail, they can try changing that value and see what happens.

I figured it out after commenting out the ob_start() function and then commenting out the ftp_pasv() function in google_base.php.

Woo-Hoo!!!
I've been tweaking for 3 days to no avail.
Your PASV to False WORKED !!!!
Thanks for posting the information !!

Hi

Is there a way of getting this mod NOT to strip out double (") and single (') quotation marks?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Why is it that I can upload my file manually, but not through th Google Base Feeder app? I used to have a site last year, it went by a different domain name. I change all the fields and matched them in the config area. I just dont get why it always says upload failed when I upload through Google Feeder.

Here's what it says

Google Base Feeder v started 2009/08/27 19:44:31
Feed file - /home5/blank/blank//feed/domain_products.xml
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
Connection failed: uploads.google.com/

Upload failed...

r those 2 " // " supposed to be there? Is that whats messing me up? n if so, how do I get it off?

Did you go to Google Base and create an account? If not you will have to do that first then Register Your Data Feed.
I know it sometimes seems like a pain and it is, why don't you set it up to tell google base to grab your xml file automatically, that way you don't have to worry about doing it from your admin.

After exploring this further, it appears that this might have something to do with products that are on special.

Can anyone else confirm this is happening?

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]

Hi

I've set the RSS feed up and you'll be pleased to know everything works fine!....

however (you knew that was coming!)...I have a quick question that I can't seem to find an answer on....which is...

My store shows it prices as default without tax (it's a B2B store) and of course Google Base needs it's prices in gross with tax - is there a simple way to feed the gross price into it instead of the net price that is being shown?

At the minute I get round this by going to My Store settings, enabling the prices to show with tax, then I build the product xml and then go back and switch the prices back to show without tax. I know this is pretty simple and takes all of 2 minutes but being an ultimate automated man (or is that lazy?) I like the idea of just letting it do it all automatically as it would if my store was showing gross prices.

Look forward to a reply sometime.

Cheers
