Problem with html "ul" tag

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. When I use the html tag "ul" (unordered list) in the product info box, it displays properly during preview but acts as if a "center" alignment tag has been used when the page displays on the website. I have tried everything I can think of to force alignment to the left but nothing works. Any ideas anyone?

Re: Problem with html "ul" tag

Have you made sure that there is not another style applied to that box as well? The only thing I can think of that would cause that is another style associated with that box (not just the "ul" tag).

I have used them before in that box without a problem.

Re: Problem with html "ul" tag

My first thought was to take a look at the css stylesheet but saw no reference to the "ul" tag in there. However, since I'm not sure what ZenCart's "official" name for that area is, I could be missing a style label. Might you know what ZenCart calls that box? I call it the product information box but, so far, my searches fail to find anything with that label.

Unless someone knows exactly what part(s) of ZenCart influences that area, I guess I'll just have to keep searching. Or maybe I'll be lucky enough to have one of the ZenCart "gurus" stumble upon this query and point me in the right direction.

However, I am happy to hear you've used that tag successfully. That means it can be made to work and that's a big help. Thank you!

Re: Problem with html "ul" tag

I just happened to notice something - the text in ALL the product info boxes are defaulting to "centered". If I remember correctly, the text in that box used to justify "left".

A little history: This site belongs to a buddy of mine. I built the original store and then handed it over to him. Every so often, he asks me to give him a hand writing out some product descriptions, work on some images for him, etc. I just asked him if he remembers changing anything but he says he doesn't - at 76 years young, he might not anyway - but I have fixed a boo-boo or two for him in the past. If that is what's happened here, it's sure going to make the "finding and fixing" a heck of a lot more challenging. Especially since I'm well along in years myself and disabled to boot.

So I'm going to be extra appreciative of any and all help.

Re: Problem with html "ul" tag

I looked at your url, and downloaded the style sheet you are using. The style sheet you are using is missing a lot of "core" information.

Not that that matters totally (if you don't care), but that could be an issue as to why you are noticing alignment issues.

You can do several things to correct it:

  1. Start over with the current "default" style sheet from the default template and integrate your changes from the "custom" style sheet with those then upload.

  2. Add the following to your current "custom" style sheet
    ul {
    text-align: left;
    }

  3. Leave your style sheet as is, and make sure you include (copy) the "default" style sheet from the default template in your custom "css" directory and name it "stylesheet_default.css". This will load both style sheets when a page loads and will include styles that are missing in the custom one.

Make sense?

I tested #2 and it solved the bullet list alignment issue alone.

Re: Problem with html "ul" tag

Thanks. I went with solution #2 for now.

I checked the stylesheet that is currently on the server and it was, byte for byte, identical with the default stylesheet I downloaded 2 years ago.

However you say "The style sheet you are using is missing a lot of "core" information." which I don't understand. I wonder if you're aware that this install is version 1.2.5 (I should have checked but I believe that's the version). Could that be the difference?

Since the custom and the default stylesheets are identical, with the exception of the instruction I added per your suggestion (#2), I suppose that negates my need to do your suggestion #3. Am I correct?

Although your "patch" solves my immediate problem, I am going to continue my seach because I believe there is some code somewhere that influences the default layout of that product informationn box.

You've been a big help and I sincerely appreciate it.
