Re: ZenTagCloud Beta [support]

Looks interesting. Althought, 2 things I noticed:

1 - The template CSS override file shows up as binary rather than text mode. This could create complications.

2 - Are there any screenshots ?

Re: ZenTagCloud Beta [support]

Hi Ken & TheOracle,

Thanks for your interest. Sorry for the delay, but you can now find a screen shot of the tag cloud along with a link to the live site where it is implemented (if somewhat roughly) on my beautiful web log.

TheOracle, I was a little lost about your CSS comment. When I view the css file all seem like text. Could you please elaborate.

I would love to hear some suggestions for further developments to assist me in setting priorities.

Cheers,

Nathan

Re: ZenTagCloud Beta [support]

Hi Nathan,

I have been fooling around with your tag cloud addition to Zen-Cart and have some recommendations for the HTML/CSS output:

--- zentagcloud.php ---

  1. I'd get rid of the   entities on line 156 and add padding to the elements via CSS instead
  2. For some unknown reason I get an empty link right at the beginning. I inserted a quick fix to prevent this from happening on line 154: ```php
    if ($returnType == "html" & $value['tag'] != "")
3. As the Wikipedia definition says, a Tag Cloud is a weighted list. So I recommend using the HTML unordered-list element for output on lines 156 & 159.

The changes I described are included in the attachment as an example, feel free to use them if you want.

Thank you for the funky contribution! Nicolas

Nice mod, I don't think I'll use it tho. BTW, your site was extremely slow for me, you may want to fix that.

A bit OT, but I can confirm that your site was snailishly slow today, madteckhead.

Re: ZenTagCloud Beta [support]

Im totally stumped with how to limit the number of tags that are displayed.
I would ideally like it to fit into a box roughly 200x200 px.

Can anyone help me ?!?

The mod came from http://www.madteckhead.com/blog/zentagcloud
and I read all the posts in the zen forum here :?

Thanks
Andreja

Re: ZenTagCloud Beta [support]

Hi All,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to this forum. Seems some of the messages were going to my junk mail... hmmm... Anyhow, I am currently preparing for some exams and will revise the project to address the issues raised as soon as time becomes available.

Initially I did't receive much interest in the contrib, so have not developed it further, however your interest may spur me on a little further. Thank you.

I would appreciate knowing if you have used this contrib on your site for my reference, and would be especially interested in any customiation you may have found to be beneficial.

Many thanks,

Nathan

p.s. Sorry about my slow site, thats what you get when you are on an over shared server.

Re: ZenTagCloud Beta [support]

Hi madteckhead,

Just found another minor issue with the code. If you have special characters in the keywords they wont get found correctly using search. The only thing to correct this is to urlencode the keyword before passing it on, so this code:

$cloud->addTag(rand(5, 15),zen_href_link(FILENAME_ADVANCED_SEARCH_RESULT, 'keyword=' . $tag),$tag);

should be replaced with this code:

$cloud->addTag(rand(5, 15),zen_href_link(FILENAME_ADVANCED_SEARCH_RESULT, 'keyword=' . urlencode($tag)),$tag);

Cheers and thanks for the mod, I look forward to future updates!

Re: ZenTagCloud Beta [support]

After looking at Amazon, I think a "tag cloud" system that users can employ would be useful. Its a great way to let users enter what they want to search the item for. Plus gives a lot of keywords on your page that search engines also love. So this could be quite a handy module.

I am worried about support as it seems very sporadic and lengthy between postings in this thread.

Thanks for link.
Would I purchase this module when support in this thread,
from developer, is almost nil; NO is the simple answer.

That's the whole point and obviously you missed it. I posted the link to say, buy a commercial version and you will get all the support that you want because it's included. The one you're chasing on this thread is free and you cannot expect the developer to provide support if they don't have time.

I have downloaded some free mods that I end up spending more time trying to get it to work than it would have cost to buy a commercial version. Just a thought! I am in no way associated with MagneticOne (just a happy customer).

Re: ZenTagCloud Beta [support]

Hi Nathan -

Love the add on! I'm using it on my store (still under development). After poking around with firebug, I added the classes I needed and fiddled with the spacing between the tags. Nice work! It was really straightforward to pop into the blank side box add on. I'm new to zen-cart - so your code and instructions were clear and easy to follow! Thanks a million for sharing it! (I posted this on your site as well).

Re: ZenTagCloud Beta [support]

Excellent mod. Works great on my site. I'm using the code on the tpl_product_info_display.php file to display only on the product page. What I would like is for the tags to show the keywords for that specific product only.

Does anybody know or have attempted this?

Thanks

Since then , my site went ofline:(
